Hello All,

What is the strongest FWD gearbox?

The Galant GSR Gearbox has a 215mm flywheel / clutch. Can you use a 225mm vr4 flywheel / clutch? Or is the ring gear for the starter incorrect?

The Magna KM210 is an option - 225mm clutch, same as vr4. Does the VR4 clutch fit straight on?

The w5m33 AWD box in FWD is another option, what makes these stronger? Should we lock it using the Viscous center welded or anther way that would be stronger?

Any input would be great.

Glen

welded centre diff seems to be a better option than the welded visc....

when i was searching around for clutches the guy told me the magna, vr4 and early evo were all the same. not sure on the V6 magna tho

What Brian said. Use VR4 box with welded centre diff.

proton and sonata run same boxes too. sonata has no provisions for roll stops aka vr4. proton do.

So cars with km210 gearbox would be 2.6 manga 2l sonata and some protons.

Only really interested in the km210 or w5 as 225mm clutches are easy to get.

Any of the cc lancer shaped ones. They are just different ratios. I think its the gti has a fairly close ratio gearset.

Oh have to check the flywheel size. I would think they run the smaller fwd flywheel. And the awd flywheel wont fit.
Often you can put the bigger plate in tho as its only 5mm bigger on each side
