Thinking of getting a 4 link kit for the jummy to put the rear diff in with. I think it will be better than a leaf setup.
Am considering airbags as well for the rear.
Maybe a parallel 4 link kit and a watts link. A angled top arm will need to fight with the petrol tank for a spot to live.
Any thoughts or inputs?

the at least you could get the right ratio be using a stocker GSR diff and build the four link around it

I did think bout 4 link in the pasted, then I looked at ladder bar setups, and I could still go that way in the future aswell.

with the ladder bar setup, I can use the factory mounting point that the leafs do, you can keep the factory point for the shock/coilovers or bags. Then you only need to put in a panhard rod to keep it straight

with the tank you could move it to the back after the diff. or do what ive done with a cell

My goals are:
1- keep 500kg load rating and suspension travel to suit.
2- nothing in the load bed.and unmolested tray.
3- spare tyre carried without upsetting no2.

Only thinking bags as I can add a bit more air as if I put more on the tray.

@brian. 4link a irs.. worth a thought. Its not as big as I thought. Not much bigger than a 4 link.
Yea, maybe a parallel 4link and panhard, but a triangle and no panhard is lighter and more room for exhaust pipe, if I can clear the tank...

Hi Jack, Here is an idea that is a bit out of the box. A guy in England has made a 4 link setup for the MGB that just uses bolt on brackets. The pics I have looks like it could be easily built and fitted to the jumbuck using the beam axle. The only reason I thought it might be worthwhile is the MG rear ends are very compact and this one looks to fit in easily.

That kit has some good ideas in it. Like the lower arm carries the spring mount.
It is a bit wrong for the jummy as I think the springs need to be behind the axle. But I couldnt expect it to bolt straight in.
There is a guy over here in perth that does a bolt in 4link kit for the crewman ute. It might even be a 3link.

I was thinking the airbag for maintaining a reasonable ride and height when unloaded and just pump it up when I put something in the back. But it is only allowed 500kg so its not really that heavy even loaded. Also bags seem to be pretty low profile as there is not much room between axle and tray.
I will get some pics up shortly.

Are airbags garbage for performance cars? Mine will not be a curcuit terror tho. But I plan a few trips down the drag strip.

This shows the stupid axle offset. So to maintain std ride height the axle must past through the middle of the spring. Others have gone above the spring but you can see the bump stop should also then be raised

Fuel tank is infront of axle same as gsr

There is actually a bit of room in there. I dont think its that bad at all. Where the front spring mount is, is pretty good for the lower arm mount (but the hole will need relocating slightly higher so it doesnt squat at launch). Could nearly put the upper arm in above it and make it a parallel 4 link then add a watts link.

They are a tapered single leaf. My spring guy wont reset it or roll the eyes.
It will still require the bump stop modified. Also, im hoping to get 1.5 60ft times. I reckon it will need slapper bars to do that and that is basically half of a 4 link setup anyway.

Go for a solid one.
Straight up, where will you mount the top spring perch if you graft in a gsr rear?

It would be less work to add the jummy ute rear to a gsr than a gsr rear floor into a jummy. Maybe

And the gsr is too narrow. Unless you get 3 piece rims soyou can reverse the rear offset to make the wheels fit.
