The oil in it (what was left) didn't look too bad. Only managed to get about 2.5l out of the cooling system. May have got real hot and left the piston at the top of the stroke. So many cars, so few people that actually know how to look after them.

Fellow crane operator here has a trike. I kicked its tyres thinking it had a vw 'dak dak' engine, dreaming it might be a wrx engine.
On hearing it a few days later I was stumped.
Upon enquiry, was told its a turbo focus engine..... damn, there is some potential in that

I don't write them off jack. That same engine is still in my shed waiting to get boosted. We'll not the bottom end but the rest of it is. 220kw is not much of an ask from the ztec's. And if you change the oil, I suspect that they hold together better.
