so ive been told by a mechanic that a while ive been hearing and getting louder is coming from the transfer case. since i have a general dis trust of mechanic motives on such matter i thought i'd ask you lot of 4g experienced folk... should i just by a second hand one and put that in or get the one i already have rebuilt? or...?

You might want to get a quote for rebuild and compare that to a second hand one.
But....how do you know if the second hand one will be any better?
