Hello all, just bought a RVR. First Mitsubishi, we have had lots of modified Nissans recently.

Overall very impressed but it does need a few bits sorted. Mainly the gearbox feels loose when changing but does select gears fine. Also it really needs suspension stiffened as the body roll is awful.

Ill read through the forum.

Welcome! I have the exact same car, same year. Is yours manual or auto? Mine was a bit flogged, interior was wrecked, engine had a big end knock, clutch fubar. Such fun

Its a manual. All in all ours is nearly perfect condition except bull bars and wheel holder need powder coating or sprayed.

Are the orange running lights on the side steps standard?

Not to my knowledge, someone might have got creative and installed them

My other question is... are 2 pots standard brakes on a non turbo?

I don't think so, they usually have single pots, it looks like someone has put an SSG bonnet on it as well. What size are the rotors?

Its definitely not the original bonnet as its dark blue underneath.

I think rotors are 270 something

276mm, are from the SSG I believe, not a bad upgrade. They are 254mm stock on a non-turbo

Slow reply but sorry no sisters... probably a good job as I dont think I could cope with 2 of them.

the rvr is now parked up on the drive... not needed for a few months so will start tidying it up.

I have just been out and started the rvr. Perfect, first turn of the key.

The downside is that it is now very smokey, lots of white smoke when I press the accelerator... are there any common causes of this?

Cheers

Over time the smokiness has stopped but today I have a new issue. This time when I am driving along and let off the accelerator I get a loud ticking noise that isnt present under acceleration.

If I then put clutch in noise goes but the car often stalls?

Any ideas?

Could it be the CV joint in the tailshaft?
Do you get any noises in reverse or coasting in neutral?

Stalling when you put the clutch in is probably not related?

Still love the RVR but am paranoid about little noises

Not noticed any noises in reverse or neutral. Worst when you let off at 2-3k rpm.

Seems to be very a certain range, definitely coming from the front sonewhere

I would check crank end float. Stalling when clutch is depressed is a sign of thrust bearing wear. Get someone to watch the harmonic balancer while you depress the clutch.

Regards the ticking, is related to engine RPM, or vehicle speed? Does it tick when you rev it in neutral at the same RPM?
