you need lowering springs (legal) or cut the springs in it (illegal) I would go with the lowering spring much safer. what do you mean by 4 or 5???

evo 4 engine or 5 as they are differant and the front is the common suspension setup but the rear has the shock and spring in differant and places so do i replace shock with adjustable and take standard spring out altogether as the adjustable will now have the new spring

The engine may be mix of both with some parts unique for x3 (same as what they did for hypergear)
I know that they can be flashed with openport 2.0 same as evo 5-6 do. ;)

I get the std springs reset. Its not a job for pedders, you will need to ring around for a spring works. Tell them how much lower you want it and they shrink your springs for you. Will be less than $100 per end

You should be able to fit EVO coilovers? I know you can with Airtreks with slight mods on  the rear.

Worth a shot anyway, and the results would be far better
