Ok... So.. As many people, I have had many cars and done many things and sold many things and punched many things. Me the mrs have matured a bit and we have settled on the cars that are here in this list. In the future we will probably replace the swift with a twin turbo v8 twin cab hilux as a family car that can also take the dogs and we may get a r32 GTR at some time in the future. But for now:

Nissan Exa #2(#1 was sold earlier. 200kw at the front wheel. Was stupid)

When I bought this car I already had another exa that I have spent a bunch of money on to turbo and stuff. The mrs said I was not allowed to do anything at all and leave this car stock. Luckily it already had a really crappy muffler so it made noise.

It is the one with the stockwheels.
IMAG0139.jpg

All I've done to it is put in 2 amps, 2 10" subs and 4 speakers. Nothing special. The only one was insane. Here it is running for the last time on  a 1.8 litre tune. (The engine was 2 litres). The engine was pulled out after this.

http://www.anmanindu...orum/redexa.avi

Swift Sport

This is a picture of the swift. This is not our swift, but ours looks EXACTLY the same.

2012_suzuki_swift_sport_cvt_automatic_ro

I will tell you now, the only good thing about this car is its suspension and engine. The rest of it shits me. However, we cut of the back SHIT HOUSE muffler and replaced it with a 20 dollar cannon, and it i the best sounding 4 cylinder NA car I have ever owned.

The Pulsar.

I have... pages... so many pages I can write about this car. So, Ill just let you look at the first photo and say, at this point, I have spent about 50,000 on the car. And then you can see the second picture, and how dissapointed I am in what happened. It is however repairable. But its at the bottom of the car spending list right now. Everything on the car, except the original 18le block itself, has been touched.

GSR evo 1.

This is the Mrs current want to be daily car. When we bought it was in bad shape. Paint was wrecked, engine was bad, driveline was making noises we couildnt pinpoint. Rebuild the engine did some stuff, then some shitty P plater smashed into the back of it and ran off. I have only one photo of it. It is not a pretty thing right now anyway. But hey, we have it. Here is a list of things we are going to do to it

Currently has a pod filter. Woop.
1 Small 10 inch sub with small 5 channel amp to 4 speakers.

To do:
Repaint
Fix rear bar
Fix Front bar
Fix rear boot
Redo sound system. Needs a rewire.
Mount a small sub and amp in the boot so they dont just free float
Fix door seals as they have fallen off. Just need to be stuck again.
fix front vents
re gas air con
find permanant home for turbo timer
fix gutter rash on wheels
paint wheels
reaplace standard BOV with sharper one
find and fix knocking noise in rear when turning sharply
find and fix rattling noise at all times (feeling loose front sway bar)
Find and fix grinding noise. Suspect Diff, or gear box, or exhaust touching drive shaft
Replace wheel studds. They are bad.
Tint windows
clean back seats, like, with a wet vac or something.
And a tone of other little things that need to be fixed.

It currently drives, but it looks really really sad. This is before it was smashed into.

Nice collection of 90s cars! I used to love exas back in the day!

Hope the damage isn't too bad on the evo. Just cosmetic/bumper?

The last of the car manufacturers in Australia is closing. Good. Because they only made shit cars. This is why they are closing and other car companies that build their cars overseas are thriving. Australia killed its own car market by thinking they knew what was best.

When I was in Fiji, all of the cars they had there were awesome. Even the shit box ones, because they were all from Japan. They do not get their cars from Australia. They even looked better. Australia's laws and the government's hate for car owners is the cause of these failing car companies.

Except for Holden. They hated their buyers themselves.

So good riddance to shit companies.

Thank you. It is very true though. I am particuly firm in the Holden hating its buyers. I have heard many stories about how bad Holden treated their current and potential customers. When I first met my Mrs she had a 2005 Astra. I took it for a service to one of my local guys and it was a full $150 cheaper than the ones her dad used to pay for at the Holden Dealership. And one of my favourites is when a younger aquintance tried to buy a top of the line (non HSV) car, but the dealer refused to sell it to him because they didn't beleive he had the money. Great business move there.

The damage isnt major, it has no butt and the exhaust sticks out badly because of it, but the collection of all these problems has made working on the car a depressing task and it has gone a little unattentded. We recently got married and bought a house and a decision was made that once things have settled the evo is the nect car to fix up.

Mrs then met a person who loved evos at her work, I think she said the user name was Oscar or something and told me to sign up here. So here I am. Interneting away. I am already seeing a number of beneficial pieces here that I couldnt find at some of the other evo clubs. But we will see.... we will see... seeeeeeeee.

Love the 90's style cars!

Always had a soft spot for the N13 Pulsars... Preferred the sedan but wouldn't mind a good condition hatch either....

Good news! I have entertainment for you, sedan admirer!

I have had a fair few pulsars and their variations. Here is the HOLDEN ASTRA pulsar. Essentially, it was back from when companies were forced to shair platforms. The main difference between this and the Nissan version was that the engine was stupified a little (EG, instead of variable TPS like the Nissan, it had a switch TPS) and some holden badges. But then there was this one thing that made me really mad and is relevant to my holden hate posted above. To change a clutch in the pulsar, you drop gear box from the bottom, 45m job. To change in the astra.... .. THEY PUT A FUCKING BAR UNDER THE GEAR BOX FOR NO REASON! 2 hours because they couldnt drop it. I asked my mechanic at the time why! Why was that bar there? He had no answer. That's right. Holden make things harder, so you have to pay them more.

Anyway, I give you THE BOLT! The much loved daily that many many people are still sad that it is gone. However, although it was killed by a Hyandai santa fe, it did save those two retards who didnt bother to put ice chains on while they went up Lake Mountain, from going over the edge of the mountain and dieing a very rolly death.

Race tape custom job. I love showing this car off.

I used to have a SVD pulsar vector, basically a two tone black on silver N13 sedan. It looked like a mini R31.

The wheels are bit meh, but yeah I loved it and regretted selling it ever since.

Really?  Have you driven a new VF and tried to price another brand new car that offers the same size, features and safety that a Commodore does for the same amount of $$$?  We don't (yes - "We", I work for Holden Engineering...) don't build shit cars.  We may not have received as fair a go as other auto manufactures do in their own countries (tariffs, regulation of imports etc) so I can't argue with you too much about how the government has made it tougher for Holden, Ford, Toyota and even Mitsubishi back in the day to build and sell locally.

We as a society have contributed to the current condition of the manufacturing industry in this country (not just the auto manufacturing industry) by our need for a greater variety of cheaper and cheaper goods whilst still wanting to maintain a high level of income and comfortable lifestyle (ie two cars per household, a 60" plasma/LCD TV, a holiday house in Sorrento, the latest Smart Phone....)

Thank you. It is very true though. I am particuly firm in the Holden hating its buyers. I have heard many stories about how bad Holden treated their current and potential customers. The treatment of customers by SOME Holden dealers (not ALL) has always been an ongoing concern for the company which is being addressed.  We can design, engineer and build the best cars in the world but if at the end of the day the car and the company are not being represented by the best people possible then it's really all for nothing.  Don't think for a second that the poor attitude of some (and they are usually the exception) independent dealer staff and their sub-standard treatment of customers is in anyway representative of Holden and its employees.  My fellow engineers have traveled to dealers to work on customer's cars to fix specific issues or address particular concerns when it has been beyond the dealer's ability to rectify the problem.

So in summary:  I don't agree with your comments - I don't agree with them at all .

Oh - and welcome to the forum, nice rides and I hope to see more of the EVO, that you have posted, more of the EVO that you have and you have posted.

I just went to their web site to get some prices on the new holden. Well, fucked If I know what those prices are, the site is so shit I can barely navigate it. But I am quite sure, given the option of any of the daewoo rip offs or brand new big ass commodore, and a car of any other manufacturer for the same price, I would not buy a holden. It is the whole "size, features and safety that a XXX car does for the same amount of $$$? " Bullshit that has destroyed the car industry in Australia. When you want to sell a product who do you market it to? People who like the product. Not people who buy the product once every 10 years just so they can get to point A and B. Look at subaru. They took the whole fat stupid family car route with their WRX several years ago and made an ugly piece of shit akin to the new SAFER HIGHER LANCER and look how well that went for them. Great sales figures, fine job there for them (IT DIDNT WORK). Holden has been like that for as long as I can remember. Give me a VK, VH, VL even a damn VN, because at least I can find parts for it on the side of the road than be charged $3000 to replace a side panel.

Mitsubishi lost here because they did the whole 380 thing. SAFER HIGHER LANCER EVERY ONE IN AUSTRALIA WILL WANT ONE! OH NO THEY DONT WOOPS WE DUMB

Toyota, rince and repeat as per above. Once every 60+ year old has bought one they will never sell another Australian built toyota again. Which is what happened. WOOPS WE SOLD SAFER HIGHER LANCERS JUST LIKE EVERY ONE ELSE WANTED.

Ford is the only one I dont understand in their loss. But I didnt really look into them too much, because I honestly thought they would hold out.

I am sorry. Regardless of what any dealer or any sales rep or any individual person on the production or design line does wrong, the fact of the matter is that when a coil pack plastic bit broke in our astra, I had to spend 500 bucks to replace every single coil pack. And that was with a second hand unit. Why would I ever want to go back to that? In fact, the company is so insane, it cant even control its dealerships. The most important part of any business is the end user interaction. We never see the engineers and the people who actually make the car. We only know from what happens once the car is received. And besides if youre an engineer, then shame to you regardless. Case and point EG astra, my previous example about my pulsar astra and dont even get me started on my combo van.

Australia is still a technological backwater. But regarding the car industry, I refer back to the european imports. Who have never made their cars in Australia. Who also have the same manufacturing costs, if not more, than here. Although they are a little more slack on laws and taxes and shit.

So in summary:  I don't agree with your comments - I don't agree with them at all .

Well, European and japanese import markets do not agree with you. So who cares what I think.

Oh - and welcome to the forum, nice rides and I hope to see more of the EVO, that you have posted, more of the EVO that you have and you have posted.

This pleases me. You are being pleasing.

Given that every car you have mentioned in your complaint here is not made here in Australia (the "technological backwater") and that the majority of profit made on the sale of an imported car (regardless of whether it has the Holden badge on it) goes back to the country of manufacture (ie Germany/Thailand etc) I fail to see how that supports your claim that Holden "make shit cars" here in this country.  Your Astra and Combo are actually Opels with Holden badges on them.  Whack a Holden badge on your imported Mitsubishi and you almost have the same thing.

Management have finally realised that the dealers need to be more aligned to the company's vision and as Holden transitions to a National Sales Centre (only importing cars to sell - like Mitsubishi, Daewoo, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, etc etc etc) the emphasis on a positive dealer experience will be strongly enforced.  It is a pity it has taken this long for that to be acknowledged now.

As for shame on me for being an engineer - well..... there's never been any shame in what I've done during my career in the automotive game.

Coilpack issue on the Astra is a common problem, reason it costs so much to replace is the coils are one complete unit, not individual.
Keep in mind though, Astra is branded as Holden here but is actually European Opel/Vauxhall.

I love how everyone on a car forum arcs up when an 'Australian car company' sells out to China. For fucks sake, where was everyone when every other fucking Australian built business sold out?

Topical: Jack Brabham built and raced his own car to an F1 championship. What support did he get from Australia? Fuck all. All anyone in Australia gets when they achieve something good, is a good old tall poppy cut down. You want Aussie built shit, change the shit Aussie built culture.

You seem to have a whole lot of hate towards Holden that seems to be mostly based on your experiences with a badge engineered Pulsar/Astra from many moons ago; the hate in you is so strong.

Probably a good thing you are not into Holden’s as the latest Commodore offering is aimed at a more sophisticated market it’s probably not something you would appreciate.

I appretiate your response, because you didnt refer to hitler and you actually read what I had to say. I like you more for this. The problem is, it doesn't matter where the car comes from, it has a Holden badge on it. Most people, as in, almost all people who buy a rebadged Holden, do not know this. If I bought a crate of shit and sold it as a crate of brown paint, people who buy it will think they bought the worst smelling paint ever and then hate me for me. Because that is exactly what has happened. Holden holds so tightly to its commodore as its main selling vehicle, that I hope it realises in its new transistion that my 31 skyline, was smaller than the new commodores and had more room in it than they do now. Except maybe boot space. Because seriously, what the hell is with these huge arse cars these days.

Also as long as your occupation is enjoyable and you do not hate the fact you go to work everyday, you can do whatever you want. As long as it is not related to the creation or operation of speed cameras or prostitution, then youre ok. Unless you cross me again....

Coilpack issue on the Astra is a common problem, reason it costs so much to replace is the coils are one complete unit, not individual.

Yeah, I held onto that broken pack for at least 2 years to show every one how badly their laziness cost us. The whole thing worked fine, but because the end of one of the coils didnt sit properly it would not fire correctly.

He told you in his first post he was a troll.

Good on you and welcome.

Keep in mind, I am not a flaming troll hole. I speak the truth and my words are from experience and observation. Unless, unless I actually dont like you. In which case sarcasm and derogatory, but not direct, remarks regarding your statements may ensure. I read the rules, but I dont remember them. I could read them again, but Im a loose cannon.

I love how everyone on a car forum arcs up when an 'Australian car company' sells out to China. For fucks sake, where was everyone when every other fucking Australian built business sold out?

RIP Sir Jack. Least you out lived all your enemies.

This guy and/or gal is spot on. If the government EVER has to consider a bail out for a company, that company should not exist. I am dissapointed that so much has been poured into the american car industry to keep it going, when clearly it wasn't working. When economics fail on this scale it makes me sad. If I can't pay the bills, I lose my house. Where is the bail out for these sort of people?

You seem to have a whole lot of hate towards Holden that seems to be mostly based on your experiences with a badge engineered Pulsar/Astra from many moons ago; the hate in you is so strong.

Probably a good thing you are not into Holden’s as the latest Commodore offering is aimed at a more sophisticated market it’s probably not something you would appreciate.

This is not true, I have many more stories to share and experiences to give. I have owned many cars and helped people with many more. Just to note though, I have owned a 1989 Astra and 2005 Astra. I think even now, with another 10 years tacked on top, they still have not learned their lesson and this is where 50% of my ... hate.. comes from. The other 50% is directed at the company as a whole. Which if I am to beleive what has been said above, should be resolved.

And I tell you Mr and/or Mrs ENGINR, the day I sit in a holden and immediatly dont get the feeling that I am just in a couch on wheels, I will probably be in a HSV and not end up buying it.

To defend HSV, I like the cars that come out. I like the way they look and I like their performance. Even if they are bloaded in body design, but once again, for that price, I can buy a better car that wont lose half of its value in the first 10 seconds I own it.

I would just like to add a few things here:

1/ Penis

2/ Engineers FTW. If Shayne wasn't an engineer, he would be currently driving an Evo 7 with D2 coilovers and HKS intake pipe/pod filter combo.

3/ Have you ever replaced a radiator in a V6 Astra? Makes changing clutches on early evo's a piece of piss!

4/ Post more pics of your ride/car instead of philosophical discussions that can be had in the 'off-topic' section of this forum!

Ok, here we go. To get me back into the spirit of working on this car, I played underground 2 all weekend. It has been a long time since I played games all weekend.

Is there a way to set image sizes in the IMG tag? Other wise, here is what I got:

It is very sad in the paint department. The roof has the typical bubbles in and it cant just be painted over. Bit of pulling out ofthe back dent, put of finding a new rear bar or trying to fix the old one, and it at least wont then look too bad.
