From what I remember SSG have a single one on the cam pulley and HSG's have two, one on the back of the head running off the inlet cam and a second on the crank.
Edit: now that I think of it, I think the SSG might run two as well, one on the cam pulley and one on the crank. I am sure someone else will chime in and let you know.

I have 2 on my SSG engine, front of engine, cam and crank. Single on the back of head for HSG which I think is the same as an evo 3 IIRC
My HSG has a cam and crank sensor, one on the back of the head and one on the crank???

This is the same setup as the us 2g around 1999.
ON THE ENGINE STAND. g4cs 2.4l + Gt35r. PLUS: auto conversion + Awd coming.
