hey guys,

 

im wanting some people opinions on this. im looking into changing the back on my jum to 5 stud. i just want to know what people think on spacers, these ones also convert it to 5stud

This is by far easier for me to do without doing major changes. but as the car will be raced both circuit and drags i dont know the rules etc and how safe that can be.

If your racing it I wouldn't be using those. They may cause a balance issue too which will cause shaking/vibration.

i'd get you hub plates redrilled and add the extra lugs for the 5 studs.

i was trying not to get my hub redilled. just means i need to pull the axles out and then seal the diff up while its out. then id need to get the brake discs redrilled too. as you cant get vr4 rear rotors in a 5 stud. or i just do the complete conversion and put the brembos on the back. which is a shit load more work but something i have been thinking about doing

They are probably the best spacers available.
Still illegal, but I reckon you could get away with them.
Will the extra track upset you?

no with these is should bring the track to where is should be. im pretty sure it currently 15mm out each side..

 

funny thing is, ive running 3 mm spacers atm. and they passed the pits with them. and the engineer didnt say anything either

very good question. he should have there sliver my rims are black the the brakes are a grey/rusty colour they get too so he shold have haha

bumped... would like some more opinions. anyone used spacers before. I wont see much track work but it will get out there.

I have used spacers before, havent had a real issue, most of them were about 1" thick and hub centric though.

being a studded unit they're amoung the best not too keen on the reduction in length of the studs though

thanks for the help guys, just waiting to heard back from them. once i do ill ask them if they do them 1" thick otherwise ill be ordering them

Is it road driven? Do you have any insurance?

If you answered Yes to both, then I would stay away from spacers.

Having worked for an insurance company, they love spacers as it instantly makes the car un-roadworthy and therefore no insurance payout (even if the spacers had nothing to do with the accident).

This can even apply to third party insurance. A story I remember, guy in a 180 (with 3rd party through Justcars) rear ends a lambo. Lambo repair costs estimated at $150k. Justcars requests to see 180 to check roadworthyness (if they request this and you refuse, then claim automatically declined). Guy brings in 180, assessor finds spacers on rear rims. Car isn't roadworthy and the poor guy gets lumped the $150k repair bill from the lambo's insurance company as Justcars wouldn't cover him.

Just buy wheels with the correct offset to keep everything legal and ytou won't have any worries if you need to lodge a claim.

Loose spacers are ill eagle, they are fixtures, but as above, insurance nah

I have been running 20mm Bolt On hubcentric spaces for ages now, and no issues, they are illegal however.

It is illegal for an insurance company to deny a claim based on something that had nothing to do with the cause of an accident.

Clearly, it doesn't stop them from trying that trick though.
