Hey guys, what in-tank pump is good for up to 400kw at the wheels? I know people are making around 300kw on E85 with walbro 255. Would Aeromotive 340lph be sufficient enough? Or is Walbro 460 only other option?

Looking forward to your thoughts

Peter :)

I'm using a Walbro 460 in my fuel tank. Look in my Rides thread for info on the install into a GSR/EVO AWD fuel tank with pics.

Man, the thing pumps out fuel like a water hose! No chance in hell you will max it at 400kw atw as long as you provide good voltage to it and bigger fuel lines.

I know people using twin pumps to push fuel through - and they need to because they need more oomph to push fuel through the oem smaller diameter fuel lines (like a thin straw).

But fit fuel hose with even just a small diameter increase, then the fuel pump doesn't have to struggle as much to push more fuel through as the force/pressure required to push it is has reduced (bigger straw).

Im sure there will be several different opinions on the matter.

But from personal testing, all I'm going to say on the matter is that when I took my fuel rail hose off and cranked the engine over, it would have filled a can of bake beans in 2 seconds easy!

Oh, Im making 330kw atw on 30psi on 98 pump. Not E85, but Im sure it'll handle it

AND IT IS MUCH QUIETER THAN A WALBRO 255!!!

yep, 460 is your only option for a single pump intank, 400kw would be close to maxing out on e85 though

I got mine from EBay seller Auto_wholesale_aust.

The kit is labelled TIA485-2. As long as you look for a "E85" model Walbro and the words "GENUINE" and "Money Back Guarantee", you'll be right.

Mine came in a white box with the part number and Made In USA sticker on the outside.

The pump is also printed with the words TI Automotove and part F90000267.

400kW @ the wheels = 536hp

25% AWD drivetrain loss = 715hp crank

Using this:

http://fuelinjectorc...flow-calculator

90% duty @ E85 = 1630 cc/min injectors.

1630 x 4 x 60 / 1000 = 390 L/hr

You'll need a fuel tanker to follow you round the track now George!

There is a voltage increaser thing that will overdrive the fuel pump. I think it feeds 18v into it.
I havent followed it up yet so I have no further knowledge as yet.
Tho pumps flow less as pressure increases. If you run 30psi your pump will be putting out 73.5psi (or something like that)
