Its well overdue, but here is an introduction of my 1991 Galant VR4 and some of the changes since picking it up back in 2011.
 
Car was originally located in VIC and had a full 2.3 stroker rebuild by Techsport back in 2009. When i picked it up the motor was still pretty fresh with < 10,000kms, the rest of the car was in respectable condition for 20+yrs old but in general needing a bit of love.
 
Within the first few weeks of ownership i hit it with a 3 stage paint correction using menzerna products and was pretty happy with the result. Took it out for a few quick photos afterwards - Heres a sample of the post-polish shine:

Next up was a general service, yoke fix on leaky transfer case and driveline fluids front to rear. Redline MT90 for the gearbox, heavyweight shockproof in the transfer and rear diff, and put a dash of microglide friction modifier in the transfer case for protection as it was showing evidence of having been run dry in the past.
 
It had a 600x300 FMIC already but was hanging well below the front bumper. It performed fine but there was miles of pipework and wasnt happy with it sitting low. Picked up a water-to-air intercooler from a guy on gumtree that had an RVR, and im pretty sure is also a member here. Quite a nice custom unit by Marks Workshop that was previously on a big hp supercharged falcon. Sized it up in the engine bay, sorted out some supporting parts (bosch cobra pump, 19mm water lines, heat exchanger, slim fan, inline filler, silicon bits etc), and chucked it all in.

Went on the dyno for a touch up tune and was pretty happy with the results, solid improvement in throttle response due to pipework, and picked up an extra 20hp on less boost and ignition timing for a safe 365hp @ 22psi. Full list of mods is on my profile at http://modlist.net.au/jdm

Built up a fresh exhaust, full 3" with an outlaw 200 cell cat, fatty turbo xs resonator to bring down the 4g63 drone and a vibrant twin tip muffler

I wrote up a post on the W2A intercooler install here for those interested in the parts/setup:
 
Radiator is a 610x200x64mm unit i picked up from ebay for about $200-250 from memory, fills out the bumper nicely and holds a good volume of water. Was only enough room for a single small slim fan but it seems to do the job pretty well.
 
Didnt actually take any pics during the wideband install but ill pull it out and snap a few pics if theres interest. Pretty straight forward and completely reversible to stock, just requires drilling a few small holes in the back of the clock display housing to mount the lcd panel and a small amount drilled away inside the clock insert in the dash to run the cable.
 
This car is in WA now nutter, and clutz yeap i can confirm this is matress old car!

They say you haven't bought the right car if you don't look back at it at least once after parking - Can confirm this is still true for the vr4 after 8 years of ownership!

 

Long time between updates but nothing significant has changed, mostly just routine maintenance and enjoying driving the car.  Thought id throw up a few more pics for those interested, prompted purely by the fact i was driving out of the driveway the other day and couldn't resist taking (yet another) photo...

Not much new in the engine bay - Now running an FP DSM Race manifold, ported and coated, and a Sparktech coil on plug setup.  Coming from a tubular manifold there was measurable pickup in low end response and off boost driveability, combined with the COP and some road tuning its feeling better than ever.

Audio gear was done years ago but worth showing here for those interested in a discrete install.  Kenwood compact KAC-M3004, 600w mounted in place of the ABS computer. Uses the same mounting bracket, nothing visible looking into the boot.  Happy with the performance for now, have this driving a pair of 6.5" splits and a 6x9's in a custom parcel shelf.  Don't expect amazing results from a unit of this size but is miles better than running off the headunit.

New engine mounts recently installed - Used OEM replacement Mackay parts to suit Nimbus 2.8 (sourced off ebay) for the top engine and transmissions mounts, a little boost in rigidity whilst keeping compliant for daily duties.  Worth noting these did raise the height of the motor by a few mm due to mounting hole offset, so recommend doing both at the same time to avoid mismatch. Have a set of polyurethane mounts (MadPolly) for the front and rear roll stops that are yet to be installed. 

 

Comparison of the stock top mount versus the Nimbus 2.8 top mount.  No pics of the trans mount but comparable increase in dubber density and offset center hole.
