In place of a slip joint or flange yeah? I think I get it now, you weld the two bits on to what you want to join, and the clamp holds them together. Sorry for off topic, just don't get out from under my rock much...

Received it and already broke it, they are weak, tightened up once (not even tight) and couldn't get the nut back off, instead it snapped the threaded bar :(
