Hi guys my names Jim and this is my 93 GSR the one and only that I will own as I don't plan to get rid of it I bought it from queensland and drove it back to Sydney iv had the car for 7 days I love this little rocket been wanting to get one for a long time and finally the time has arrived :)

The engine is pretty much stock has a pod and custom exhaust 2.5" I assume, it has a td05 there is no BOV so it flutters and a bigger intercooler which doesn't seem to be a evo one (might be wrong) has genuine evo 3 kit except for the wing car is sprayed matte black looks like it's done by spray cans haha il upload more pics soon

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum :)

I like hearing stories like yours where guys have been keen to get their hands on a GSR or EVO for a long time.

You kind of get the sense that these cars will be appreciated and get some TLC.

Hey, nothing wrong with matte black - its a cool colour :)

congrats on the car! :) is the lip on the front bumper removable? its looks like a fiberglass bumper and gsr quarter panels to me (but it could be my imagination), not that it really matters especially for $2000, how did it go on the trip to sydney?

Sweet ride. Sometimes I think that having the exterior not all that bling is cool coz then noone is fussed about what the can REALLY do. Its whats under the hood that matters right? lol. For real though, 2K??? What a score! Looking forward to seeing what you do to it in the near future

Thanks guys yeah Matt was good pretty smooth actually I'm not sure if this thing has a thermostat because it said the temperature was on cold apperantly the front bar definitely isn't fiberglass because there are chips on the bar and you can see metal

yeah QUKNEZ 2k the bloke wanted 5 and half but I told him 2 grand and I'd come up in a couple days so he agreed not sure what il do with the car yet I want to do engine work but don't know we're to start

99% sure that the bar definitely isnt genuine Evo. They look like GSR guards on the car from what can be seen in those pics.. and a genuine bar does not meet up with GSR guards neatly like that.
And as Matt said...the lower lip is a seperate piece on a Genuine bar...that looks like its all one piece in the pics.

Either way...for 2 grand its a steal! Interested to see what direction you take with the car and what you do to it.

what id suggest (what i am doing to mine) is just fixing up all the little things that may need doing and get it running and looking good first.

heres a couple of things that id look at first:

check firewall for crack from clutch pedal, check clutch pedal bracket aswell, both my firewall and clutch bracket were cracked

check roof for rust (under the roof lining) i had a small amount of rust which i sand blasted and painted (fingers crossed it does the job)

replace bushes on the gearstick if its a bit sloppy (dont buy the parts from mitsubishi if you need them like i did :) )

Yeah me too with mine. I want to do so many things to it but both my knowledge/expertise and bank account won't allow me the luxury of doing even half the things I want to do? lol

I've got pretty basic mods like yours right now, but through this forum I've been fortunate enough to pick up a manifold from one of the many 'good fullas' here, I bought a TD05 that should arrive to me in a few days, I've got some new lifters that just need installing and I'm overhauling both the pads and rotors in a couple weeks. I want to replace bushes and mounts, as was advised to me via this forum, but like everyone else here...I've run out of money..lol

To be honest, I shouldn't have bought the TD05 and put that money towards the bushes/mounts and some other safety or ride enhancing stuff..but once I put it in I'm sure I'll change my mind..

Yeah mat iv checked a couple things like that as had to run new power cable for amp seemed ok pretty decent as for roof rust not to sure as the roof has dots on which look like rum drips from the paint but not too sure

hey QUKNEZ how much did you get lifters for as I need new ones also because they make noise on start up

if you have dots on the roof it might be too late for the roof (the glue that holds the ribs on the roof under the roof lining cause the metal to rust and it rusts through causing paint bubbles/dots on the roof), i think you should check under the roof lining as soon as you can

The guy I bought it off told me that the lifters needed to be changed and was good enough to supply me with them. A 'sweetner' to seal the deal I hear you say? Well, needless to say..it worked lol

I've looked on past posts on the forums here about changing lifters and I have a pretty fair idea between them and other youtube clips I've seen about changing them to be confident enough to do it myself. I'm punching above my weight a bit, but I like the challenge because if I can do the job, then I don't need to pay someone else to do it, right?
