does it start and run still or has it got worse now and doesnt go at all?

if it has rail pressure and the plugs are dry after a couple of minutes of cranking it suggests ecu isnt firing the injectors. come and borrow an ecu

It starts and runs fine, it just takes a good 10-20 seconds of cranking when it's cold. When it's warm it starts fine

Car is still misbehaving, have been doing some more research, read sometimes a very similar sounding problem (in DSMs) can be resolved by replacing the coolant temperature sensor.

Opinions?

Are you logging? Everyone needs a logger! That will tell you if your temp sensors are cactus or not. Another way is by replacing it with another.

Also, when you "unplugged" your ECU, did you unbolt it? There's a seperate earth  that is held in by one of the bolts... maybe you may have missed it??
