Hi again. I was wondering? The other week I was messing around under the bonnet, and just moved the boost solenoid. One of the air hoses came off. When I looked the plastic had snapped and was stuck in the hose. I had to cut it and put it back on what plastic was left.
My question is. If I replace it? Should I just get another oem one or upgrade to like a grim speed? Or something? Me ecu is factory, planning maybe ecmlink. Would a grim speed one work on factory ecu?
I'd rather not buy another oem one, only to find later I need to upgrade it.
Also, a guy at a autobarn shop mentioned that turbo smart ebc, would replace the oem solenoid. ( I know there not the best place to get advice.)
I was thinking of getting a gfb force 2.
Cheers

If you are keeping factory boost levels then the factory boost control is fine. If you are upping the boost a ebc is best and a mbc is second choice and either can replace the factory controller.
Ecmlink for gsr/evo 1-3 will not control boost to anything other than stock levels.

Cheers for that. Yeah a little more boost is more fun.
Ok, I thought ecmlink could control boost. Yeah. I think I got mixed up with an evo 7 ecu. I know it can. But after talking with Brian I'm leaning towards the ecmlink. If and When I get it. Big question is when?.. If it's ok, I might use your skills to fit it to my ecu.
So if I get a ebc, I can take out the oem one? I thought the ecu wouldn't like that?

Yes, you can remove it. Im pretty sure you wont get a fault light, but if so just plug it back in and tuck it up under battery tray.
You can only run the ebc at a bit above stock or you will run into boost cut. But fine below the boost cut levels.

The full version of ecmlink will control boost, but only lite version is available for evo1-3.
I may be upgrading from my ecmlink (or downgrading) so give me a yell before you buy as maybe mine will suit you.. hopefully near year end.

Cool I'll keep that in mind. Let me know for sure, it would be a lot better for me then getting it from you then the states.

When you look at the ecmlink site it says the v3 package, but when you read the comparison page it tells you it's only the lite version for 1,2,3,gsr. O well.

You can unplug it without a check engine light appearing. I have mine unplugged on my Mrs E5...and my Evo too.
