Need an ECUFlash guru that can point out the finer details of merging ROM's.

 

Have got TephraXMOD V2 and need to merge my current ROM tables into it. Well, I think that's what I need to to do but not really sure.

 

I have watched all the how to tune with ECUflash videos, and I already have Merlins guide. Great stuff, but I understand tuning. What I need help doing is getting all my maps from my current ROM into Tephras custom jobbie.

Open two bins in ecuflash and higlight whole map in your curent bin then copy and then just open tephra one and paste.
If you're going to use big maps tephra then you can download map translator to actually translates your small map into big one. Once you translate it then just copy paste as above explained.

To flush an ecu just drop it in the Doulton and press the button at the top....the full flush will give the best results.

That's the answer I needed. I have made copies of original files and have been doing exactly that, not using big maps but good to know.

With the extra tables in the tephra mod I guess if you don't use them just disable or set all values to 0?

Last question, do you know if you need to still bench flash an evo X ECU if you change rom ID's? David changed it to ....0210 from ...0010. Have the updates to ecuflash enabled this to be done in car yet?

When you say the extra tables, which ones you're actually referring to?
As for the flashing, I don't know, I have never done any evo x tuning.

Btw: make sure that load and revs values from your old maps are same as on the new map. You don't want to end up with advanced timing because the new map has loads to say 300 and old one was at max 260. You can also change load values on your maps. Doing so on one map will change the others automatically. Hope it make sense

Yeah, I think David has done most of that for me as he knows I'm a bit thick. The other table that I mean are the ones that were never defined in the old rom. Took a picture of the screen to show what I mean. So I guess if it wasn't defined in the old rom it doesn't come up in the compare list as there is nothing to compare to?

The cells in blue have a map to compare to on the old rom. Would seem the rest are just settings that derive/modify stuff from the main tables? Busy week at work but I will spend more time inside the Merlin Manual this weekend to learn myself better.

I've gone through the whole rom and changed everything that was highlighted in the compare maps. The tephra rom comes with all the stock maps from the parent roms which has had me copy and pasting all the fuel, timing, boost, wg etc... which have all been modded by others, It seems to be a good safe tune but still pig rich up the top. It's been a bit of a minefield opening up this ecu, it used to be a TMR ecu but through the years it got unlocked everybody else has been fucking with it, so I just want to get a rom and definitions set up that I know.

 

The scary thing with the tephra rom is all the alt maps are all still the stock ones, so switching maps on the fly could be fatal if I don't set them all up as well.

 

Apparently there is a patch that will allow the rom to be flashed without benching it, so waiting for that to come through. Have a LC2 wideband in the mail, and once that's all set up and I have some good consistent logs recorded, I will upload the new rom and see what happens.

 

(You see what I did in the last sentence Jamo......good consistent logs.... hehehehe.............I REFUSE TO ACT MY AGE BITCHES!!!)
