Fire wall is done, main hoop and bits. We corner weightd it and it will weigh in at 750kgs complete.

It makes it 80kgs lighter than the coupe

My next outing might be a little more tamer, Im going to start to experiment with the 2step on the launch.
I think there is an 11.5 in it the way it is. Then its time to up the comp on it.

I have been reading a heap about 4 link rear end tuning as im getting ready to put the mounts in the ute.
I cant see how your arms mount (under the rear bumper behind the rear axle?) If thats where they are, I think the rear mount needs to be inches lower so the car pushes down at the front at launch rather than up. You can see this at launch when it squats and hoiks the front up.

My 2c. On a out of my league build that I probably have no real knowledge about....

im going to dig myself a hole now and tell you where I think it needs to be....

I think you have used std lca and welded the mounts in. I think you have set these up near level same as it was on the front.
I think the plane of the mounts needs to twisted up so on a side view, the line through the mounts points to the top of the front tyre (or even higher).
I think you are wasting hp lifting the front up instead of pushing it down the track.

Unless you were deliberately building a wheelie machine...in that case. Congrats.

you are right. We knew this would lift the fronts as the geometry isn't correct. But the old suck it and see approach 

was the way to go. The next step is to only change one thing at a time, so the 2step is the next test.

After that I can put weight back in on the nose of the car too. (maybe another motor lol)

The shock mounting points are too straight up and down.

I did a costing on the conversion

Mirage from the wreckers $200
Steel for fabricating chassis strength $120
moly for fire wall main hoop and door $150
aluminium for fire wall $70
Radiator from an EG civic $90
Lexan for windows $120
Hydraulic handbrake and lines $140
Front runner wheels 15X4 4X100 $500
Carbon bonnet $450
Bits and bobs, welding and cutters $120
So all up around $2000 was spent on doing the conversion and about 12 weeks inbetween jobs etc.

I re used my evo 3 engine, ecu, fuel set up, wiring, suspension components and driveline.
I think it can be done for under 6k if a evo 4/5/6 front cut was bought and a turbo set up was done.

1 more engine in the front please.

Auto, so you dont have to worry about gears shifts and stuff.
But you will need a line lock or will be real busy with your feet.

It looks like a fun toy.

and the carbon bonnet excluded on the conversion brings it down to around $1500!! Thats pretty effin good man

what about wheelie bars?

Either way EVO-OOX is right with you needing to sticker it up, some good advertising right there!
