does anyone know what the sensor is below the inlet manifold on the block?

It pays to pull them and inspect it if you haven't done so already! If they look anything like the one on the right, then you need to replace it. The sensor can pick up phantom knock which tells the ECU to retard timing and you end up making a lot less power a lot less efficiently. I replaced one once on a VR4 and I gained 16kw atw!!

my car uses stand alone ecu so im not sure if it uses this sensor
