while engine is at top dead centre. dowels facing 12 o clock timing marks line up perfectly. at first we were only getting spark on 2 cylinders. so i got new coil pack for it . we have spark to all cylinders now but still running rough as guts. anyone have a similar problem? we put new head gasket on arp head studs. it has balance shaft deleted so we did not line up oil pump timing marks

How did you get it running on 4 cyls. I assume it was ok before ? Did you take the cams out, and maybe not bleed the HLA's down ? Did you machine the head face ? Replace cams ? The cam timing marks almost never line up, and can be a little deceiving some times ..

seems like it in limp mode. no power. spark plugs are wet. has anyone had a similar problem. if it is crank angle sensor would these be the symtoms? tdc was double checked with long screw driver on # 1 piston.

...can be a little deceiving some times ..

^ This. The best way is with the cam cover off, lay a steel rule on it's edge on the head between the cam gears to line the timing marks up.

Are you sure you have the high tension leads in the correct order?
Cyl 1&4 should go to one coilpack and cyl 2&3 go to the other. 4-1-2-3 is how the factory leads line up iirc.

yeh mate , that s how we lined up the notches on the cams with the ruler on the head. we put the timing light on and its 17 degrees past tdc so might be ecu related. it has a really old adaptronic ecu

could be injectors. took plugs off on 2 injectors and no difference in idle. ill get them serviced and see if this is the remedy. if not could be the module.

What 2 injectors? If ist 1-4 or 2-3 I would suggest its spark not injectors
If you swap injectors around, the miss will follow the dud injectors.

^ This.

Did you check the spark leads like I suggested in my previous post?

Do a compression test, at least it will rule out any head or compression problems. It seems like a lot of things have been checked so one more check won't hurt.

Balance shafts are 180 degrees out

*edit* just saw you have deleted them.

What about CAS. Sometimes that can be put back 180 degrees out too.
