Hi all. Just after some clarification. My radiator needs replacing in the HSG. Will an evo 3 fit with minimal hassle? Just want to make sure the stock fans will bolt on.

Cheers

My understanding is that the e3 rad is lower then the rvr. Therefore lower mounts need to be made to boost it up by about an inch.
Have been told that Magna rads fit, but not sure on this one.

RVR rad is wider too think it might be compensation for the auto trans cooler and the oil cooler setup.

I am running a aftermarket alloy the mounts seem to line up for standard fans (i'm using 2x 12" spaals)

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

KOYORAD make a direct fit for the auto turbo RVR, it might be interchangable for manual if you block the transmission cooler bolts.

you can get it through MEEK http://meek.com.au/ if you call Pat & ask for it as they don't hold it on-hand although they may say its "in-stock" or just direct through AdRad Group http://www.adrad.com.au/ as they are likely to have a branch in your state.

FYI and helping with some disappointment KOYORAD may be japanese designed and they might build some but you are likely to get one made in indonesia or the china factory but still under the marketing guise of "japanese quality".

meek also list GMB waterpumps but what they send you is powermax with a GMB stamp on the housing (just not GMB japan) with a fibre gasket not copper but they have a 2yr warranty which may be ACCC statutory anyway.

otherwise if you have a manual HSG maybe get a mishimoto one to suit an eclipse from the US as they come with a lifetime warranty.

Here is my research that may assist based on AUTO.

it is suggested you change your thermostat at the same time and from trawling this forum and others seems recommended you do not use TRIDON hi-flow thermostats for fuel economy and temperature stability reasons (?) where possible get OEM.

good time to check the hoses, but as much as I can find cross reference part numbers most you can not source in australia as they are gm chyrsler or they are end of line, for most you may be able to use generics with moulded bends but some double bend like the oil coolant feed another user from here recommended aeroflow fittings with universal hose

Meek sent me a GMB Japan waterpump when I ordered one for my RVR. The housing had both words stamped on it, and was in a GMB box.

The top plastic tank can be replaced if that is what's knackered.

Thanks for the replies. Top inlet tube has disintegrated and one of the mounts has cracked and is leaking after I hit a roo.

Some great info here.

You are right, this is what needs replacing. Any idea on a part number or where to start looking?

Thanks.

I replaced my top tank about 6 years ago. The tank was sourced from a radiator shop on O'Sullivan Beach road in Lonsdale, Adelaide. Not sure which one but can remember findind the tank listed in the Natrad catalogue under something other than an rvr and was ex stock Australia. I have the receipt in SA but won't be there until next Monday. From memory about $130 for core clean, supply, and tank fitting.

Ok so I sourced a top tank for $150 or complete Koyo Radiator for $253 delivered. I will post up how I go. This is from an online store and they were very helpful, sourced it on a Sunday!

This RVR is consuming my life. I have an Impreza that needs a head gasket that is getting neglected!

Interesting Pat said they cant supply the GMB japan in a GMB box now due to an issue with the authorised distributor/importer.
