he had a normal rvr as well. He was recently selling that too. Pretty decent guy, just taking a bit much on trying to do a engine rebuild without pulling the engine out.
ON THE ENGINE STAND. g4cs 2.4l + Gt35r. PLUS: auto conversion + Awd coming.
thanks for parts and help: BMGTZ, EVOCPE, cwolf, Benozi, Jamo-GSR, 1JUM2NV, RXVII..much appreciated, cheers guys.

As far as I'm aware the earliest RVR didn't have a roof rust Issue, maybe Jamo can confirm if so, and the year models? If they didn't have the issue, the go would be to chop the roof off one and put on a '97 HSG. Otherwise, on the '99 if you can have a good look at the roof skin under the interior light, maybe it can still be saved? I'd imagine the cost of removing the roof skin and getting it blasted by a pro ect would be cheaper than buying a new skin IF you can find one, then also the cross braces, which I spose doesn't have to be a factory one, you could get a steel fab shop to knock something up. Just brain storming ideas really, depends on what you want and what you can afford I spose. It's a shame that evo's have this problem aswell.

It was actually you and your ccomments a while back that prompted my answer...I seem to remember you posting something about roof rust in RVRs a little while back.

They would be a great car TBOWGN.
Jamo, from memory the rust in RVR's were the same year models as the year models of the evos with rust. In saying that though, I'm yet to see a white RVR with roof rust and would like someone to confirm if they have it or not in a white RVR. I can only assume the black is more susceptible because it attracts heat a little more? not sure.
Yes, Warbo in the '97 HSG you could get a fairly good idea of the state of the roof skin just by unscrewing the interior light. The light in those is right in the center of a crossbeam and perfect for viewing where the silicon was put to see how badly the rust has corroded. Not sure about the '99 but most cars do the same thing with the light...

Well hopefully you don't open up a new sunroof Knight. Once a bubble is showing through the other side of the sheet you can safely assume the rust is a lot worse on the other side. Good luck mate
