Most of the problem with the 3's on gravel is too much oversteer, Which I am trying to dial out at the moment. With more understeer you can drive it more aggressive, which should make it quicker. I wonder what the works cars used before they went to an active center diff? maybe something like the KAZZ?

if you want more understeer....change it back to the evo one front end which has a much stiffer sway bay. Then remove the rear sway bar. That was a the setup that a lot of the old school guys over here used. Some even ran with no sway bars at all...to let the whole suspension work.

Hey Brian, yeah I will be removing the rear sway bar, Leaving the current front in. If I need more I may even change to EVO 1, but I will be running racefab front arms.

The rear ends aren't the best in them, they do bind up a lot and cause snap oversteer.

But now being fully rose jointed in the rear and front, I will be completely re making the inner rear wheel arch to allow the rear

wheel to have more movement.

Ah yes, hence the Tarmac name. I've always preferred more oversteer (but I'm more probably on the lookout for a Ralliart RA737828A1 VCU to reduce the slip between the front and rear axles - hint hint Brian??), but understeer with use of the handbrake is good too, just makes for a bit more busier time in the seat unless you can get a good balance in between.
It seems the Kaaz centre would be exactly what SKM needs if he wants to reduce oversteer on gravel by counteracting it with the understeering characteristics of the Kaaz centre diff then.

Take a look at the attached pics and pdf file I've dug up from the net. The Kaaz DBM2020 CE9A centre diff does have a 4-spider cross-shaft and pinions and is a 50/50 split.

I checked Co-ordsport in the UK (Kaaz supplier) and you can still buy replacement clutch plates and an overhaul kit for them as per the screenshot pics for DBM2020 parts.

It also appears to come with a sleeve where the VCU usually goes. But the one for sale on EBay doesnt have the sleeve on it.

The discs were $385 US last time I checked, my issue was finding someone to set it up, which is difficult when transmission builders have never seen one. The Adelia coupler is better for this because the whole transmission doesn't need to be taken apart to tune it. I had a Kaaz and ATS (basically same idea), they both went into Eclipse/Talons here in NA, haven't seen any since. In Japan it's apparently popular to convert the stock center to clutch-type, I've seen it done twice but have no idea how to do it.

Side note, I have both a Cusco front MZ LSD and Ralliart front LSD up for grabs.

I can rebuild the W5M33 AWD gearboxes almost blindfolded now I reckon. Well, with one-eye open maybe lol

Those Adelia couplers are rare as. I have never come across one, only pictures of them. Yeah it would have been much easier opening up the end case of the gearbox and adjusting the internals of the Adelia, rather than getting to the centre diff. How can a product so awesome as the Adelia cease production? I'd like to know what the internals of one looks like.

EDIT: oops no bother. Brian has already opened one up here: http://www.4gtuner.c...bled/?hl=adelia

Those last two photos are mine, I've had 3 of them now. Of those, 2 ended up in the US and I'm holding onto one forever. They made around 20-25 I think; I've had #s 14, 16 and 18, I think Brian has 3 now too. I know of another one in the US, one in a rally car in Japan, one in Malaysia, that's already half of production. There can't be much more than half a dozen left in Japan; I've done my best to get them out, but from now on, they won't change hands often at all.

They were $1500ish with long lead times new,and very complex for a machine shop to make, I'm not surprised they were discontinued.

Thanks for the pics of the Kazz unit EVO-00X looks interesting.

My mate here in TAS has an adelia in his EVO 1 rally car, so that's another one.
