Hi local forum members. Been a long time member but not to active on here to much as I am usually just trawling the pages for ideas and how to guides for modding my 95 GSR.

I don't know why but this week I picked up a 97 hyper sports gear just for a daily runabout. This will be my first 63 and I am just a little bit excited.

Car is being delivered on Friday and already thinking about the first mods to do.

From what I cam see I think a decent exhaust 3inch preferably is a good move. And ecmlink is always a good move for future plans I think.

I see some members investing far more money than I have into making their 63s insane and I'm not looking to go nuts here. My Gsr has had the love and that will be my fun car.

Just wanted to get your opinions on what direction of modding to do first.

Also if anyone is selling a ecmlink lite please let me know. Im definitely interested.

Cheers Mike

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Zero for sale in Tassie. I bought this one from Melbourne. My dad is driving it down on Thursday night.

I picked up an auto one. Any idea if an auto one is any good. I see the diff ratio is different to manual. Is it shorter or longer. I don't really understand diff numbers yet.

Love the black HSGR mate. The auto has a few differences to the manual unfortunately but easy enough to overcome.
Auto has 14b turbo and I think 450cc injectors. Manual has big 16g and 510cc injectors. Neither engine is an EVO despite what you hear people say, but plenty of potential in them.
Even with the 14b a determined tuner will see easy 13's with minimal fuss.
Have fun bro!

14b is an upgrade! The autos have a TD04. In fact I'm pretty sure my manual SSG had one as well.

Why is it not considered an evo engine? I'm guilty of calling it one.

I thought it was just the cams, injectors, turbo and ECU and slightly smaller TB opening (which can be ported anyway).

They look nice in black. You'll love it mate, such great little (?) cars.

Does ECMlink work with the RVR ECU? I don't see why an ECMlite wouldn't, but most people convert to different ECU's (Evo) and I'm not sure why. There may be a reason behind it!

vr401 on here is your man. He knows these things inside and out. He can even re-program the TCU.
I didn't know this and went and bought this - http://www.forcedfou...hiftboxplus.htm
Will hook it up when I have some time.

Both auto RVR's I've had never shifted that well. 1st gear is really shitty...

Good luck matey.

What's the deal with AFM and injector swaps. Is the running a evo afm already?

As in, is it as easy to fit 510cc injectors with say a 609 / 055 AFM upgrade?

Obviously with ECMlink this is easily dialed in for any injector size but im looking for budget mods until someone sell me a "ecmlink lite"

Oh God, its a 13g?! They only have like 350cfm flow.... Wow, didn't realise that. My bad.
Sorry Mo, I just stay away from referencing the EVO even with my HSGR, all the hardware is there except for ECU, MAF and slight differences in intake but I feel that calling my engine an EVO is like an SS commodore guy calling his engine a corvette engine...
I won't piss on you for doing so though mate, all good. Guess too many inbred commodore drivers in my family have left me tainted and jaded :-).

Bigger injectors will need compensating for or it will run way to rich. Somw guys hack the MAF, but that is not ideal....
MAF's changing will need compensating for as well as they have different scaling also. Best wait to get a tuning solution first my friend. For the time being just make the turbos life easier by freeing up the exhaust and airflow into the turbo as well and you see gains pretty quickly and cheaply.

Thanks for the reply's guys.

i will be looking into a custom 3inch exhaust through my local exhaust shop.
would love a varex as they as sweet for when you dont want to make to much noise.

on the lookout for ECMlink lite, if you know anyone selling please point them in my direction.

any idea what a good boost level will be on the stock 450cc injectors?

What is stock boost on HSGR?

Also i ordered a gearbox filter and gasket kit from bursons, they only have a listing for a SSG, will that be the same filter and gasket for the HSG?

I have a TD05-14B in the shed, how do you think this will go on a stock motor.

Worried it might raise the boost a bit to much for the stock auto gearbox...

Probably bolt it on anyway cause i love it!

Next issue... i need a TD05 dump pipe, i cant post in the wanted to buy section.

Anyone have one for sale?

14B won't really transform the car to a tranny snapping monster. The torque converter eats all the power.
My auto HSG is running 16psi on a 16G atm with a basic tune and it's slow as hell.

EVO300 is selling a stainless dump in the classifieds section. jerome266 has an uprated cast one for sale as well.

As for the filter kit, Aldo suggests avoid using those and to use a specific metal one.. I cbf digging through posts but he quoted their business details in a post recently.
His username is rockabilly.

ECMTuning chips work well in the RVR... unfortunately I am out of stock of these and only have the VR4 chips presently. Just buy one directly off their website ?

Agreed on the auto box eating all the power... Just picked up an immaculate auto sportsgear as a daily and disgusted with the lack of power with the thirst of a V8 :/
Still love the car tho... They're an awesome car for the Tassie roads mreagon :)
