We bought a np Pajero and a couple of the doors weren't locking/ unlocking with the key in drivers door. I rang around a few wreckers for actuators and no one local had. So I went down to supercheap, bought one of those cheap af central locking kits, not even the one with the remote ( so like $39 or some shit). Then I just removed the existing actuator and modified the bracket to fit the supercheap parts, just have to test as you go to make sure your wiring the polarity right otherwise the door might lock when you press unlock. So the 3 wire actuators worked for all the doors besides the drivers. Once I'd done that I brand a remote home from work and programmes it in and somehow, even though the drivers door worked with the key to lock/unlock the rest it wouldn't lock/unlock with the remote. So I pulled that door apart and dos the same thing but used the 5 wire actuator instead. Works 100% every time and now if they break again I have a couple spare 3 wire units and if I need another drivers side just go buy a whole kit instead of the 200-250 or some shit mitsu wanted lol.
Hope this helps!

He was buying one off me but there's no need as he plugged it into the passenger side and it works.
It's something to do with wiring. The wiring in his door has been mucked around with. To me it almost looks like it's a harness from the passenger door of a GSR.
As one of the extra connectors that's there looks like the connector that go's to the switch on the back of the lock on a GSR front passenger door. Evo's don't have this at all. (EVO300's car is an EVO 3.)
And no model that I've seen has it on the drivers door....
We're still looking into it. Starting with the big red relay inner the dash. And then work our way back through the wiring to the door.

The Evo 2 has the same setup for remote central locking.
I have seen an Evo 1 with the remote integrated into actual key, so they must have had something there.
Nice write up fella's - was looking for this info for ages!

And with the aerial, again never seen an E1 setup so don't know if it is suppose to have one. Does the module have a aerial plug ??(like an aerial plug on the back of your headunit.!!). If it does then yes it should have one... If it doesn't then no it shouldn't have one !!
You say it has the Set1 - Fix - Set2 switch !! If it has this then it should be the exact same process to set up a key for it....
Look to see if it needs an aerial and go from there. If it does get an aerial.... If it doesn't need one, Try the process again..
Try doing it sitting in the car with the door trim off and all doors close... Also make sure the central locking is set so the doors are unlocked !!.
Flip the switch to "Fix" for a few seconds if it's not already there !! Then flip it to "Set 1" and hit the button, your central locking should lock, then flip the switch back to "Fix.".. Wait a few seconds then press the button again. This should unlock the central locking... From there on it should just work as intended... Lock - Unlock.
If this doesn't work then yeah I'd say either your module or key FOB are buggered.
Give it a go and get back to us...

If you have a 3 button FOB then thats probably why it’s not working. Post a pic of your FOB.

I’ll get a list together of models that came with this 3 button and also the 2 button that we need.
Some of these cars came with a 2 or 3 button FOB For the same model car.
Like the 3000gt Some have the 2 button and some have the 3. There’s a few 3 button ones on eBay now but no 2 button ones

That’s a Mitsubishi Eclipse key FOB. Also 3000gt are the same as that.

Thread resurrection!
WHen my EVO 1 got broken into the first time, I purchased a new original key with the transmitter in the actual key. Programmed it to the standard remote receiver and it worked fine (my original key also worked fine)
Got broken into again, and even though there doesn't appear to be any damage to the remote and antenna components, the lock barrel is stuffed but since then my "remote" locking doesn't work.
Does the "remote" locking on the EVO1(with the key near the receiver dot on the side of the door) depend on the lock barrel working? From what I can see with the door trim off it shouldn't matter?
Perhaps it is a case of the control unit being "stuffed" but I can't imagine the key is the issue given how new it is and the condition it's in.
