Hey guys , just after some wisedom/guidance/info

I bought an evo3 head, looks like its been sitting for a while but its been plained and two new valves installed

I took it to a mechanic yesterday to have a quick check, the mechanic thought that it all looks okay except for one couple of things.

some of the lifters are quite solid. So I'm not sure if once I've got the head on the car and I've turned it over to get oil pressure maybe the lifters will free up with the first lot of rotations once the engines running?

one would assume that if its had work done to it ,whoever was working on it would have replaced any bad lifters?

heres a video

Strip the lifters and clean/prime them.
straight edge the head (and may as well the intake/exhaust) face.
put the head on its side and cover the valve with kerosene by filling the port, this checks if any valves are leaking. Any leaks need the valve stripped out inspected and lapped or machined/replaced.
Id pull the 2 new valves and give the guides a good visual. They have been replaced probably because they were bent. Bent valves can split the guides.

I'd take it to a machine-shop who specialises in cylinder heads and have them inspect it.  You might pay a little bit for the service but if it saves you time and trouble later because he's spotted and rectified issues - then it's worth it.

If the lifters are a concern to you - replace them all with new items.  If you're going to do this, do it once and do it properly, otherwise you'll be second guessing yourself once it's in the car.

Do it once and do it right so IMO take it to a specialist head reco shop to avoid any chance of problems after you have bolted it on and trying to start it and it will be cheaper in the long run.

Thanks, guys, sorry for the delayed reply for that was for good reason, I took all of you're advice and

yep, I certainly took it to get inspected, everything  was actually fine how it was!, all they did was a leak down test and it checked out fine.

just spent the last 2 nights putting the g6k-4 head on, lubricated the cams and lifters, torqued it down, cambelt, got oil pressure , then started it first pop!

The lifters were a bit noisey but they quietened down after a few mins,

thanks very  much for you're help guys :D
