Hey lads, so my stock standard SSG Sportsgear Auto RVR does about 350k's per tank on 98ron nearly every run, which isnt flash and im used to it after having a whole bunch of these cars... 

 

Ive got an ecm link for my Hypergear with the new built engine, but im considering getting another installed in my auto to see if it will help with fuel consumption....

Has anyone had any positive fuel consumption results after installing an ecmlink?  And did you get it tuned or get a chip for it??

Have I told you how much I hate these transmissions Lars? :P

I've touched up the maps in Mike's car about as lean as they can go and i think I may have picked up around 50km (?) per tank. In my R32, I almost doubled the range.

An alternative to ECMlink is to enlist Mio's help using Evoscan logs.

Was getting about 10km/litre on factory ECU in a 1.8l lancer CC GSR turbo with about 95kw atw, went ECM link, with some supporting mods (but still on td04), got to 130kw atw and getting 9km/litre, so efficiency much better, so yes, I think you can get efficiency gains with ECMlink which you may be able to turn into better fuel consumption, but won't be cheap to do so!

You have to turn off closed loop and run it as lean as you can during cruise and plenty of timing during cruise. You may get it to 17:1.... this should see about 10% extra economy.
it has to be more efficient than oem as you can run much leaner.

Yeah i know Mo, hate 1st gear in the auto, no control just shite :/  But apart from that the car is so sick... Perfect for a daily surf/camping/kid runner

Tricky... here are some very rough calculations, if you get a 10% improvement, as Jack suggests, that equates to, say 385km a tank, so you are effectively saving 4 or 5 litres per tank, which is around $7or 8 a tank. Dunno what ECMLInk costs these days, but guesstimate around a grand to purchase, install, tune, maybe more, so you have to buy 140 tanks (1000/7) to make it pay... but LOL, does one think like that ?   Plus how does one resist tuning for power ('cause you can!)...

Saving 4 tanks a year in petrol, but burning 8 tanks a year with the more power.

A later ecu is a better upgrade if you can get it tuned. Its closer to the ecmlink full, but cheaper and the full is not available on the rvr

Thats a tank and half a week for 2 years or 3 tanks for a year.
Is that on top of driving a taxi or using the car AS a taxi.

AND....if your tuner is knowledgeable, has just as many if not more functions.

I can get another ecmlink for $250, but like you said tuning could be another matter.... This one is moreso setup as a stock camper rvr, so ill be doing a few k's in it... However i should probably spend that money on finishing my white forged one first.
