well anyway while on the subject I thought it was interesting that the eurothane used for windscreens is the same grade euro used for engine mounts, good to know if you need a quick fix that's just as good as original ;)

I got told off for mentioning that. Apparently sikaflex engine mounts are too backyard for some.

I just replaced mine with ones from meek, they are similar to the stock ones as i drive on alot of dirt roads etc so the ones tbowgn sell would have been a bit to hard (nothing negative against them as i have never used them)

anyway the rubber in the original mounts had snapped so the engine was moving around a fair bit, which to me made that car feel sluggish and not as good on cornering. the damaged mounts would also make it difficult to get into/change gears depending on how the engine was sitting at the time, if i was lucky the engine would move a little around a corner and id be able to change gears nice and easy

from my experience, if you go with stock mounts and you do them yourself you'll need access to a press and you need to be careful as they can get damaged quiet easily trying to push them in

so yes, they are important to replace if they are damaged/cracked, if there not damaged/cracked then there no real need to do it

Mines 95% asphalt driven so lars got my money, I cut mine out with an airsaw too and the only thing I found was I cleaned 1 out too much and the mount could spin, easy fix though and no pressing required for them,

Thanks boys :)
Mine are definitely hard, and you will get vibration just sitting there, but so far after selling them to many evo, vr4 and Rvr owners I've only had positive responses.
Basically, if you want comfort stick with standard, however if you're after performance then hit me up. Cheers

A popular option that many in US do is filling OEM mounts with GE "Window Weld". It is a hard, RTV substance that works very well! Personally, I am not a fan of most aftermarket mounds (I find them too stiff- too much vibration), so I often use Window Weld, which also happens to be cheaper. ;)

Is your window weld our silicone? So smells like vinegar as it dries? It takes ages to dry all the way through, you can speed up and completely dry it by mixing kids acrylic paint through it. The water in the paint drys the silicone throughout.
we talk about using sikaflex, its a urethane and its harder and grippier than silicone. A urethane product is also whats used to instal windscreens

What he said ;) ... Yeah they're a bit of a prick to fit, but they're meant to be alot tighter than standard.
