Iv been wanting to get another 4g gsr for a while now to use as a daily driver. We got one a year ago purly for the box and 4g63. Its sat around doing nothing till i decided i might fix it up, it was rough as guts when i got it and the guy i brought it off on here said it just had the head done but it never ran good since. I found the cam timing out a tooth and the radiator overflow bocked off completely?? He also said the transfer case was noisey and said they couldn't find a fill bung to put oil in it after they put the motor back in.....
Im planing on making about 300kw on stock motor with just left over evo stuff we have laying around. Im budgeting on about 2.5k. Out of pocket. Ill also get it painted and remove the bling bling wheels and 5 stud it + brembos.

I ran 11s for under 5k in a 4g93 gsr nearly 7 years ago. Im not worried about the strip for this one though, a nice 280-300kw daily driver with a/c will be fun.

Cheers mate this should end up being a good budget built car. Ill be doing alot of "unconventional" mods that i know will work well but someone will still post up and say you can't do that.

We pulled all the dash and interior out, and stripped the sound deadening because i was worried about rust underneath it from sitting wet for a while but it looked ok. Got 18kgs out. I also got climate control and an evaporator out of my other gsr and put it in this and then gave the floor a coat of paint, then washed my interior. I went to make a clutch pedal firewall support but found a leaking clutch master, so instead made a support and adaptor plate in one and fitted an evo 9 master i had spare in the shop and fitted a resovire from chingchong land. I got some solid engine mounts which raised my motor sag about 25mm's lol. We also deleted the abs and fitted new lines and a proportioning valve. I relocated the p/s resovire and made new hard line to make some space for future mods.

I got the hack going and took it to work without boosting and threw it on the dyno just to check it wasn't going to implode. Found it would hard cut as soon as you gave it full throttle or high rpm so we ramped it at 30% throttle till it cut. Made a stout 115kw, i found for what ever reason i couldnt pull codes. After i had a quick look i found the tps output and switch wire were pinned wrong and the power and ground also needed swapping. I racked up about 1500kms and put it back up and was stunned at the power, got to 163kw on 12psi. That was after 3 back to backs with no dyno fan going. I did the old mechanical tune and backed off 5psi of fuel pressure which leaned it out to low to mid 11s under full load and 15s at cruise with no closed loop. Didn't rattle so was good to go. Just to compare, a std evo 7 makes roughly 140kws on our dyno std with just exhaust. And a std wrx about 120kw.

Nice work.
can you get those rims on that are in the dyno room? Theyd look good.

Is it 6 or 7 bolt? Either way, for what I'm guessing is basically stock, it looks like a strong starting point and a good candidate for whats to come,

This wasn't a black GSR in Christchurch by any chance?
