Has anybody modified the factory intercooler spray setup on the front bumper of their EVO1-3?  ie changed the nozzles or quantity or orientation of the nozzles?

Autospeed has a few articles on this. A intelligent intercooler controller as well.
i think they talk about esspresso machine water pumps and brass nozzles too.
plenty of good info with tests to back it up

Just trying to find those brass sprayers. The stock sprayer on the evo2 bar just dumps a shit-load of water.

The whole idea of using a 12V to 240V power supply sounds like a PITA to me, especially on a track car where I'm trying to keep the weight and simplicity to a minimum!

I purchased a window washer pump from AutoOne for $15 and that seems to blast the water out with no concerns, so I think I'll stick with that and look to get those misting brass nozzles they mention in the AutoSpeed article.

Just waiting on a mate to confirm the availability of a custom alloy water container before progressing too far!

Sounds like a plan.
You could always run the aquamist pump later and avoid the 240v altogether.

There are 12v high volume high pressure pumps available but the efectivness of the sprayes comes mosly down to the nozzles

What about using a pressurised water reservoir and using air pressure to get the psi needed to mist it??

Irrigation misters and a 12v pump should be more than enough to mist the water

I remember reading a article on a smart intercooler aprayer mod that used a wiper pump from a holder and irrigation sprayers on a micro controller to do the job

I think that's this article: http://www.autospeed...y-Part-1&A=0527

I'm going to look at one of these 2.5 gallon (approx 10L) methanol containers from VPW: http://www.vpw.com.a...ry/Index/373015

I am going to install it in the cabin, behind where the passenger seat goes, I want it to look a bit nicer than just whacking a plastic jerry can in there, I've put too much effort into keeping the car looking purposeful to just go cutting corners now!

10L should be more than enough to see me through a 10lap track session and I believe anything more than that will just be excess weight.  A 12V washer bottle pump should be sufficient and I'm going to visit the Spraying Systems guys (they're almost local to me!!) to talk through the best misting nozzles they have for this particular application.

Have you measured intake temps before doing all of this?
Will be interested to see just how effective this will be....for the work/cost involved.

There's a mighty car mods Ep where they cover this, they use sprinkler heads for the nozzles and they seemed to make a fairly good mist, they also did it with a pumpable container for used for weed killer lol
