perth gear box have done a few, Some were shit...some were good. Depends on the money you want to throw at it. My advice....sell it as a boat anchor and get an evo 1 or2 box and rear diff. evo 1 has closer gears...evo 2 has better synchros in my opinion. GSR boxes aren't re-noun for strength

Why would you take it to the scrap heap, should have just sold it to someone that can just fix it.........
Might be a wreck.

You're going to need the transmission workshop manual to pull it apart now dude (look in GSR/EVO tech sticky section).
You have to unstake the large nuts on the ends of the shafts in the ass-end of the gearbox, get yourself some gear pullers and bearing press etc.
This is where only those experienced with the right tools can pull it apart, inspect and put it back together again properly.
It's no easy feat nor something a first timer should attempt without the workshop manual, proper tools, access to replaceable parts and patience.
There's only less than a handful of us in here that know every single component in the gearbox and could rebuild them with our eyes virtually closed, but none really out your way except Brian (BMGTZ). If he's anything like me these days, he's old and probably doesnt have the time or health to work on cars as much anymore.

I'll pay that Pulling them apart is easy and only takes a few minutes.
But cleaning them up is the dirty smelly c*nt of a job I hate the most because it gets on everything and the smell lingers around for weeks.
I find it much better to do a couple or so boxes at once in an assembly line rather than one at a time - it can eat your day away but at least you can get them out of your way rather than go through the funky job of cleaning shit with every teardown. Better yet, get someone else to clean the parts for you in diesel, a brush and compressed air so all you have to do is replace parts and reassemble it I haven't found someone to do that for me, so I get diesel poisoning and inhalation sickness that turns me grumpy, shut the door and say 'fuk it', I'm over cleaning that shit. Then the smell hangs around for a week or so before I have to go back in to finish the job
