Hey everyone

It's become necessary to  downsize my garage stash (keeping some bits for plays) over the next couple of months- I have 2 lancer gsr's that I'll be looking to move and a couple of different engine possibilities for them.

I'm a bit stuck thinking about which combos to put in them before moving them on, I have the following options for both cars.

Forged Evo 1 or Evo 2 motor

Long rod forged Evo 1 or 2 motor

2.3  stroked Evo 1 or Evo 2 motor (forged or oem 100mm crank)

2.4 4g64/4g63 motor (evo head) (forged or oem 100mm crank)

2.4 long rod 4g64/4g63 (evo head) (forged or oem 100mm crank)- I like this option for one btw.....

All options mod plated and legal in Qld.

Any engines left over will also need to be sold at some point too. But this is not a for sale thread, I will post there when I've got everything else organised.

Also getting a Nimbus and will either put one of the 2.3 strokers in it, or do another 2.4 4g64/4g63 for it.

(Can anyone guess why I'm downsizing the garage.......)

So, in your opinion, which combo do you think would be the most desirable from a potential buyers point of view? Reasons why/why not can be of assistance too.

Cheers for posting!

It's a shame you don't have any 4g93t's that would be the best option as then you might have got a larger interest from interstate buyers

Out of the options you have id be putting in the forged evo 1 and evo 2 motor, I'm guessing they would be easier to drive on the street, you don't want to make the potential buyer list smaller by putting in an engine that most people would only use in a track car, also which engine will be cheaper to put in and get running properly, you probably won't make more money by putting a more expensive engine in

maybe talk to jetgsr, he had his car for sale on gumtree for ages and still has it as far as I know (going by his for sale thread on this forum)

I'm no expert, but if I was looking I'd prefer it to be close to stock as possible engine wise, especially if I was looking for a reliable daily

Thanks Mat, I do have a couple of 4g93t's- one is still in one of the cars. I've seen Troy's is still for sale, it's actually one of the reasons I started this thread. Having the standard 4g93 is an option I'll probably have available if someone likes the rest of the car but wants to go stock engine.

A couple of other factors-

Any 2 litre engine I put in will be brand new, freshly built and properly tuned, I'll run the motor in before advertising it. Any of the combos would be geared towards streetablitly and reliability, I always aim to have daily driven streetable cars after the modification process. It would seem more attractive and reliable an option to me than an old 4g93 that leaks a bit of oil and might bend a rod any time you boost over 15 psi.

Not in it for the money, but recouping some costs is important- one of these cars was being built for a mate who has since been made uemployed, and cannot go through with the build. He's already put money into the project and I intend to make sure he gets back what he's put in.

I had intended to do the 4g63/4g64 combo, or 2.3 stroker for the daily driver lancer, but my wife's having a third bub in August (will have 3 under 3 and a half) so a Nimbus will be the new daily for us. (With either a 4g63t 2.3 stroker conversion or 4g64/4g63 evo head combo) Having the 2.4 block does seem like a unique setup and I reckon it could be an attractive option for some- but yep, definitely making the pool of people smaller when going down that sort of path.

Yeah, when I do the 2.4 block it'll be a long rod. The thing for me to consider is the slightly extra cost of getting I beams for the 156mm rods (I've only got one set currently) to do a long rod 2 litre. But the rod/stroke ratio is pretty good at 1.77 for the long rod 2. The question is whether I put it in the car to sell it or sell the engine separately. I'm really keen to do the 4g64 block with a long rod 2.4 in the second lancer, not too many of them getting around I don't think.

I'm not a boat person btw (but I do like sailing multihulls)

Haha, na I don't mind skylines (although not a fan of 90% of the doushs driving them),
But I thought he might be trading in for a commy then I forgot to press the post button and when I eventually saw it and did post it, mr doo doo had already replied with the nimbus/ 3rd bub... Anyway... lol

The day I get a commie will be the... well it won't ever be. Had thought about the skyline reference, but my gtr is a 32 not a 33 ;)
