Have been getting caught as I am running a Walbro 255 with the sleeve, so I took the sleeve off and it didn't make a difference, it's weird because very occasionally it will read correctly for like a minute and then drop back down

I had the same problem, of on the senders resistance reading was all over the place. Replaced the unit by a working one, now the fuel gauge goes to 3/4 instead of 1/2. I'm thinking about adjusting the needle, I hate dropping the tank over and over again.

Why would you need to drop the tank to remove the sender unit?
Because my 93 colt hatch does not have the inspection hatch at the right position. And also there are 2 different sender units on a evo tank. So you would need to do so in a real Evo as well I think.

ok so I replaced the fuel sender and it made no difference, still not reading correctly. tried to check the resistance but the fuse in my multimeter was blown so ill get a new fuse on Monday and check if its the gauge playing up? is there anything in the second inspection hole I should be looking at and also where do I find the earth wires that are related to the fuel gauge/sender?

A real Evo has an inspection plate on both sides.
I must have a Real evo then....

Nah the othe one is just a siphon pickup
Both sides have senders in them. It uses both to work out fuel level.
More misinformation from you again Kyle. Wow.
