What are the best brake rotors available for Evo III for track use?

 

I am currently looking at the DBA4000 series, is there anything better which is similarly priced and easily available?

Yep...Romeo has a complete 5 stud setup with Brembos in the for sale section.
Best bang for buck brake mod you could do.
It has the same rotors your talking about....combine that with Brembos.....unbeatable.

Pads and fluid will also be important. I ran rdas at first and they were fine. Depends on speed and weight as well

I run RDA's rotors with Evo 3 capilers with good pads and I have have no problems around Lakeside, Qld raceway. Evo3 track car runs standard motor.

DBA4000s with a decent set of pads and decent fluid will be fine.

 

You don't need to go all out with Brembos and 5-stud purely for track spec braking. Brembos look cool  and are super awesome  and that's half the reason why those of us who have them on our cars have gone with them, but I did a few track days at Sandown (a high speed and hard braking track) with my std EVO3 calipers and rotors with a set of EBC green pads and had no issues.

 

You also don't need to go all out with high-temp racing fluid - I ran standard dot4 in mine for ages without dramas and have only recently changed to the race-spec stuff for added piece of mind as I have started pushing myself and the car a bit further under brakes.

 

The key with track work and keeping your brakes alive and performing at their optimum (regardless of the setup or type of brakes you have) is to make sure you break up the hot laps with a bit of a cool-down run or a cool-down lap before pitting, or at least doing a bit of a cool-down drive after the hot laps so that the car and brakes have a chance to dissipate as much heat as possible.

I meant what brand/model of brake rotor in the Evo III replacement size is best for track use?
 

I have heard RDA do not cope with track work well, and that DBA are considerably better.

I have found Project mu rotors but at about $800 they are too expensive.
I am leaning towards the DBA4000 T3 rotors currently unless there is a better available option?

I have dba 4000 series rotors and find them great for track. With decent pads fluid and some stainless lines they are okay for track work.rda yeah not so great. Okay for road car but warped a brand new set at trackday.Much better quality of iron used in the 4000 series hence the reason they are recommended for club and entry level motorsport

I had slotted/ dimpled rda's an warped them in the first 2 weeks on the street with bendix pads, went to slotted DBA's and never warped em, had ebc reds but went back to bendix cos I planned on keeping the reds for track use,
In that price range, my vote- DBA

No doubt dbas are better quality. That said ive used rdas for track work and they seem to hold up fine even cooked a set of ebc greens

Same here. 
I think the older slotted RDA stuff was ok, but the newer dimpled ones seem pretty ordinary.

If its the dimpled and slotted ones thats what im using. Might not have run them in properly

Thanks 86psi, I did check them out but it still costs a fair bit more than adding bits to the EIII brakes and it seems that I won't be able to run a 15" wheel with those brakes.

 

Also, can brakes like that be engineered to be street legal?

Spend the coin on a set of DBA rotors and decent pads. You want to spend as much as you can afford when it comes to brakes.
