Needing to replace a few bushes in the rear. Whats the best way to remove the crossmember?
With the trailing arms in one go or separately? Also bare in mind ill be having to refit it alone.

Are you replacing all the bushes, ie the rear diff hanger, moustache bar and trailing arms? If so, i reckon you should pull the parts out on their own. It'll make it easier to manage the removal and re-installation, esp if you're doing it on your own.

Yeah shayne thats the plan. I figured pulling it all out as one would be a pain to line back up on my own. Might get it up this week and see if i can change it all over.

If it is anything like the galant. All in one with diff, axels, trailing arms attached. But really depends on what bushes and tools you have.

Do they need to be pressed out? Burnt out? Or solid Weld in?

I've done the subframe removal/installation both ways (all in one piece and separately) and I've found it's just easier to manage the different parts on their own.

The only pain in the butt with doing it separately is removing the CVs from the diff and being careful to pop them out without tearing the seal, but apart from that, it's not really that hard.

If you do decide to do it in one go, I'd get the car to a manageable height off the ground then put a trolley jack under the diff and something to support the trailing arms so they don't flop around when you undo the bolts holding them to the body, then just gradually lower the whole lot down.  Then you gotta repeat the whole process in reverse when re-installing them.

You'll need to separate the bits anyway to press out the old bushes and press the new ones in anyway won't you?

Yeah well ive got a few to change so ill most likely have to disassemble it anyway. Is it not possible to leave the diff and cvs in place? Really need to pull it apart to see what bushes actually need changing so i can order them

The diff will have to come down, as you need to remove the rear hanger bar to get the bushes on the side and you'll need to drop the moustache bar to change the bushes that slip over the studs on the floor.  I guess you could leave the CVs hanging in the diff but it might load the little cir-clip up a bit?

Where do you guys buy all of your PU bushes from? Does Super Pro make all of them?
I want to change all of mine out, up the front as well. Part numbers would be epic if someone has em.

Its 2016 and Polyurethane still remains as a cheap and easy way to fill a hole. If the stuff was any good OEM manufacturers would be all into it. I however, don't really care. Just don't come braggin about superpoo this and that, cause I will just laugh at you.

it 2016 and manufactures still use rubber that perishes and fails after less than 3 years (yes i've gone through a set of oem bushes in that time.) oe use rubber because it's cheap and reduces harsh vibrations more efficiently. that why oe aren't all over poly urethane their main objective is cost and low NVH scores both things PU loses on

I agree with leadfoot. That's like saying oem wouldn't use forged internals. Oems have different goals than ppl for performance oriented modifications.
