Hi everyone, not 4g related in anyway, so hope it's ok to post in off topic.

I have a ke70 Corolla with a stock 4K, bit of background;

I bought the thing cheap not running to use as a gymkana/ rally/ hillclimb car. I bought it with a blown head gasket and the engine had been half pulled apart.

Rather than fucking around trying to repair the existing engine, I bought a running replacement off a mate with a 5 speed to match.

I have swapped the engines and gearboxes, everything is re assembled how it should be.

The thing will run and idle perfect if you pour fuel straight down the carb or pull the inlet line off the pump and feed fuel in there, I know the pump is working because it draws the fuel that I fill the filter with in the engine bay, and will run until it uses that up.

It just will not draw fuel from the tank.

I did the above steps hoping with the engine running it will pull fuel from the tank, but no good. I have removed the fuel feed at the tank and pushed compressed air up the line to clear any debris, it pushed fuel out at the bay so I know that's clear, and the filter at the tank is clear and clean fuel is pouring out when I disconnect it.

I even tried to pressurise the tank by sealing the filler neck with a rag and blowing compressed air down there, nothing will push fuel from the tank to the filter in the engine bay and I don't know what else to try.

Any guys who have experience with old shit heaps please share any other ideas you have.

sounds like it needs a 4g63 swap

Does it have a stock carby? If it does... On the carby there is a wire that goes to a solenoid. If that wire isn't connected it will have the exact symptoms you describe.

The solenoid is an anti overrun valve.

Hey Brian, fairly sure everything is hooked up but I'll have another look, it has sat for a long time too so it might be hooked up but broken.

I had a similar problem on an old carby colt, the pickup inside the tank was rusted at the end and wouldn't suck out but you could blow air in.
