hey guys hoping I could get a little help.

 

So I have a set of brembo calipers I want to put onto my evo but I know my current rims will not clear the brembo's. I know I need to run a 17 inch rim and from what I can gather the largest safe width is 7.5 wide. but what offset does the rim need to be? When it comes to rims and sizing I am a complete noob, I have just lucked out that all my cars have came with proper fitting rims so I never had to mess around with them. This topic also seems to give a lot of mixed opinions cause I see some people running +35 all the way to +42 So I am at a loss.

 

I also really wanted to keep the rims looking era correct and go with something like a TE37 but finding them in the proper sizing is a lot harder then I thought itd be. Almost considered doing the 5 lug swap to help with options but I really just dont think its really worth it but maybe im wrong? My car has coilovers so if I need to adjust the height a bit thats not an issue so any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks man, from what I gather its saying to do the 5 lug swap, but still not the best at what offset I need as people seemed to jump around to a few different offsets in the thread. But still a good read!

on my 7" wide 4 lugs I'm pretty sure it's +43

Hi mate,

If you intend to run Brembos, then there is a sticky topic showing the process. However you will end up converting to 5-stud. That opens up a lot more wheel options though!

 

Not having done it myself, I can't advise what your new offset becomes though. Hopefully one of the other forumites can help.

not sure why I have to swap hubs in order to mount my brembos, they already have been mounted onto my hubs  no issues. I guess I should clarify these are CTSV brembos and are a direct bolt on unlike evo brembos that require a adapter plate or new hubs/knuckles.

Really? CTSV Brembos bolt right onto the Evo1-3 setup?

fronts yes, not sure about rears, I am finding that a lot of parts are interchangeable from the 2g dsm and the CTSV caliper has the exact same bolt spacing as our cars. only issue is fitting a rotor and finding rims to suite as the ctsv are slightly larger then evo calipers so rim choice is limited even more.

 

id go snap some pics but the car isnt in the garage as my cousins evo 6 and supra are occupying it and its -38 right now haha.

OK! Does it work out as a cheaper alternative to Evo Brembos? ie being able to keep 4 stud wheels etc.

Still not sure on that I guess it depends where ya live really.

 

me being in Canada Chevy products are very affordable and easy to get, I got both front calipers fully loaded brand new for 260$ now I just need to figure out if its the evo 9 or 10 rotors I need to run and find rims that will clear. besides the cost of the rims my brake upgrade will only run me a max of 500$. Also finding the stuff to do the 5 lug conversion for me is going to either cost me a arm and leg or be impossible to find. Thats kinda why id like to stay away from it as much as possible. I did find an easy way to swap my fronts but still no easy answer for my rears.

I wouldn't worry about the rears if you can keep the same wheels F&R. The front brakes do all the work. The only reason people swap the rears on the Brembo swap is due to the mix of 4 and 5 stud wheels.

Sorry I guess that was a little rushed of an answer, I mean for the 5 lug swap. I know how I can easily swap my fronts with eagle talon front knuckles and hubs, so then the rears would be my only challenge as I have no easy swap for that as a talon rear suspension is way different then the evo and I dont think it would simply bolt up. I know it does on the gallant VR4 but I believe those are different from evo's please correct me if I am wrong cause id be ecstatic to find out I can easily swap that as well haha.
