Hey just bought a 2000 Lancer Ce2 MR today and the plan is to wack on an ebay turbo kit.

While not necessary to change gearboxes considering this car is going to be a daily; I've done some reading and it seems that people suggest to get a mirage cyborg gearbox, however, I can't seem to find any for sale.

Are my best chances of getting my hands on one involve buying a half cut from japan?

If your going to get a half cut your probably better off with a ce gsr so you have an already turbod engine and compatible gearbox. Plus all the wiring and ecu with out fucking around. Then you could just bolt on an evo turbo, injectors maf and ecu and intercooler and away you go!

No CE GSR. Its 1.8l turbocharged.
The CC lancer GSR engine is around the wrong way for your chassis..which is why Ian suggested an engine which will bolt into your chassis.

Ok understood

I noticed the spec sheet said the drivetrain is 4wd so that means I would need to lock the diff right? Would it be cheaper to source the mirage cyborg transmission?

You won't be able to run the CM5A gearbox without a lock kit if you're staying FWD, and they are EXPENSIVE. The standard G93 gearbox will be fine, unless you're planning on trying for 300kw at the wheels.

Box will be fine for 300kw+
Remember over 200kw you have zero traction so you won't kill the box.

I didn't have the car in FWD for long with that power. But I removed the box and still have it in perfect condition.
BJ has made over 300kw and has had over 200kw on the street for almost 15 years through a CE FWD box.
Trust me without traction you don't break things.
