Hi all,

I'm chasing some info/links to info in regards to converting my GSR to an auto gearbox. I have knee problems, and they are getting worse. I figure that as I'm planning to hold onto my GSR long term that swapping to an auto would be a good idea.

What I'm wanting to know is do I have any options/ is it possible? I think I read somewhere that if I swap to a 4G63, then I can use an auto out of a sportsgear/hypergear. Is there an AWD autobox that bolts to the 4G93? Definitely needing to keep it AWD.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would have thought an RVR/Auto conversion would be a good option. There seem to be a few being wrecked for peanuts and everyone wants a manual. You could then look to sell your GSR set up to someone else.

You will need some auto lancer parts too. Shifter, pedal box, dash. Maybe wiring looms...

the same auto boxes used on 63's will bolt to a 93 (but you will need the matching transfer and rear diff)
you'll then need a flex plate most likely one from a auto 1.8l lancer. you may need a custom flex or torque converter depending on if the fwd flex matched to the converter that would be std to the gearbox.

from there it's wireing or going manualized.
you can get an auto engine loom from a automatic proton m21 (rare as hell though) not sure where the one i worked on has ended up though i could ask if you want it.

No great hurry at the moment as I can't afford the swap yet, just looking for info on what I'll need. Thanks. I would definitely be looking at a manualized box though.

I have been thinking a bit on this. I would just swap everything across regarding motor/g-box/wiring loom/pedal box correct? Or is the RVR loom/pedal box different? Just considering the option of buying a whole car if the majority is a straight swap.

buy a crashed rvr auto and swap motor box in one because you'll need the ecu as well or the auto won't shift gears

I'm definitely thinking this will be the way I'll go when I eventually do this. I think this road will have the least amount of fussing around, and give the fewest headaches.

Am I right in assuming that I would just take the whole engine/gearbox/loom/ECU out of the RVR and swap it all straight over? Would there be much (if any) fabrication needed?

For the interior side of things, will the RVR stuff work (dash cluster, gear selector etc) or will I need to source lancer parts for this?

Sorry if these questions are a bit tedious. I'm just trying to make a mental list of what I need to look for/organize to see if it's actually worth doing.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Interior from a lancer.

I was wondering if the CE lancer would suit, as I think they are a shared floorpan with the cc. Also they have a different shifter.
Can also source proton auto pedal box.

all the dash in the cc should still work many need to get a cc auto gear selector cables no fab work  may nee to change the cam gear side engine mount to the evo one and find out what diff ratio in the rvr or see if it can be swap in to the cc diff housing
