Max Wheel Size - EVO 6

I've been told mixed things about the preferred sizes / max rim size you can fit. The purpose of my Evo is to be driven so I don't want it slammed & scrapping guards etc.
I have found some perfect Enkei RPF1's that are 17x9.5+18 with NS2R semi's that I like but assuming they'll be to wide?
Is 17x8.5's the max? I have Evo 7 rims on at the moment.
Thanks.

What size tyre is the semi? the rim size (9.5" +15/18) barely fits a ct9a with 235 tyres and that's with rolling the rears with -3 front and -2.5 rear camber.
For the CP9A you'd need to cut away plastic and metal if you want to run a decent sized tyre. To give you an idea, with stock alignment before the rear plastic flare was cut away, 235/45/17 semis on 17x8.5 +30 lowered 1.5" was rubbing in the rear. Personally I didn't want to cut the metal arch and couldn't fit a bigger size than 17x9 +22 without rubbing.

Looks like they'll be way to big as the tyres are 255/45/17.
So 17x8.5 fronts and 17x9 rears would be safe if not lowered to much?

If you pick the right size then you'll be able to fit 255/40/17 tyres.
Stay away from mismatched front and rear sets because it will end in tears.

I've ran 18x9.5 +20 work cr kai in the past and trimmed rear plastic arches and neg 2 deg camber on fronts. If not too low you can get a way with it.
