Hi guys, I've searched a little but couldn't come up with much besides the seam welding thread.

My gsr is starting to crack either side at the top of the firewall, they are slowly growing. Also the whole car has a lot of flex when jacked from the front, enough that if you open the front doors they drop and when trying to close them you really have to lift them into the jam. Not that I jack it from the front often but it's worrying that there's that much movement.

Anyway, what is the best way to stop the cracks continuing, is there anywhere else I should be inspecting for cracks? And what's the best way to stiffen up the front overall?

Cheers

Fender braces mate, mine had flex damage in the back boot channel and front right corner by where the bonnet bolts,
Put as many braces as ya can if ya want my 2c, fenders, 3 point strut braces, front and rear, k frame, back seat floor pan, rear diff and rails
Or maybe cage it

Yea thought that'd be the go, I'll weld up the cracks and get some of that ultra racing gear I reckon.

Have a bolt in cage, spose that will stiffen it up somewhat too

Thanks

You have too take the guards off to fit the braces... so put s few extra welds on while the guard is off. I also usually add a piece on angle inside the top rail. And spot it on in sections

Black evo 1 full road rego and done properly/legally

I have heaps of parts...but never the one I need.

No pic at present. But it goes inside the top rail to beef up the section that the fender brace bolts too. You will see what I mean when you fit the braces

I saw Brian's efforts in that regard. Def looks the goods.
Where the brace bolts to is a single 0.7mm bit of tin. So back it with some angle and secure the angle.
You will see.
