Water pump and water pump housing reassembled. Took a while to clean up and ensure things dont leak.

I don't want to have to do this task again......

Replaced the turbo water hoses.
Replaced the thermostat and housing gaskets.

Reinstalled, hopefully leak free.
Just need to do a few more hoses and the transmission can get bolted back on.

Then onto the rocker cover gaskets and timing belt and pullies before putting the engine back into the car.39f2a2c9af090061dba0f096ddafde93.jpge60ee44eda586183fcc5218f83a56182.jpg324ff66304b051a4d006931bf420406b.jpge878eb40b85edcef8e27d52bfc1e5131.jpgb450d4d43cf083f4c3247598e4002ebe.jpg760909c079d7eec12757728bb3d606c1.jpg43b1e7b852c17e647fb6abae3331e210.jpg

Thanks for letting me know. I'll let you know if I ever need them. For this one I'd like it to be stock (comfy) .

Some progress tonight while the kids are asleep.

All hoses done. Needed to remove the turbo lines to connect the hoses. Wouldn't be fun to do on the car. 8994be924db5a83662bc5c5a19832538.jpg111172244917369b7da269670c73a4cf.jpg98f56ca0013192fa8637f2cf9d745aec.jpg91d6b8f2d86293c3b0b3f378fc7ddc56.jpg2dbcb1a5be672519b346ae94cc69b011.jpg

Trans seals done and bolted back onto the engine. Back breaker.

I knew those deadlifts would come to use one day. I'm starting to build a love hate relationship with this car.

It will make me appreciate the Galant much more I can tell you now........

Lastly for the night, rocker cover bolts are loosened and timing belt dummied up. Just need to line up the timing marks and replace all seals related to cams / rocker cover... Then it all goes back together and back into the car! e5fd56ac39719f9d59ec983c859edf2e.jpgea6be7dc43f63c3f27cfc25dff0574d1.jpg68c37e1a23e79c495a7f6531887acc88.jpg

Camshaft seals done. No half moon but 4x full moon seals. 4 cam gear seals. Double the work of a 4g63 and double the time.

Glad that is done, now for the rocker cover and timing belt.

Hopefully I can have all these parts off my garage floor and free the hoist up. Past half way now! Hanging to cruise in this thing.

Yet to find a nice set of wheels for this machine. Any suggestions? e35dec8ff923e20d31bc6bb478e0e5b9.jpg79f8eee707485e1da22a09f1acb2ce97.jpg8ce168b9380edfc272a89e336db3f7c6.jpgd48a788f7a856dc2000c4642ac137fd7.jpgb85d185cce9b2163d2edd249fcaac845.jpgce51473a0d97010173f526ee5ad6a0aa.jpgc62eae784502db195c24ebe4450fa632.jpgfbf99787228584d2c5129e5106d6ed75.jpg

So, timing belt covers resealed and installed.

Rocker covers also got a good clean up ready for paint.

Last thing to do before the motor makes it way back onto the crane and into the engine bay. cb5ccce0d9cd179b5779bb920fb20502.jpg2ba2ec71a9297c3fd3f015ff0cc0feca.jpg346fb47008a5a35959d7655565d59ac4.jpge07413aba09087e8b90dd98dea9a7192.jpg116a2a7a10474885a4f85168b2468713.jpg96398dadb956e3fe2c05ae0da291ab86.jpgae2bf513dd081bafef9da10aabe469d7.jpg93cf22cca753291e8bf316ae9abef99d.jpg648bcd14d9aaf7ff09cb1d62e44c5fd9.jpg1dc9f0304f0d55b3203273051dc67e53.jpg

Engine back together with rocker cover gaskets replaced and bolts torqued to spec (2 ft lbs).

Harmonic balancer @ 135 ft lbs.

There is a defect in the FSM. Cam cap bolt torque specs are not aligned. The table shows the correct spec but the diagram is reversed. I never thought an FSM could be wrong!

Validated with the yanks!

Also, leak down test was approx 5% on every cylinder. Very happy about that. Engine should be good for a future turbo upgrade if wanted.... 99d3e8006e46bd99c7d5cbbc07b3e220.jpgae2822418b47d0d2f859d350aa72998f.jpg34203e29c1b30176fcc3921e1c38b21f.jpgf285356b89ba2f351acaa6576c2546c6.jpgdd6d376965df5b4a1c2e83bf363b7e4f.jpgc4fef65e7359bf6a51f789e0017864e1.jpg05af2511f4a14b42a95cea3849428587.jpg72f6639b56f9aa4c225e3ae8c2d378da.jpg

Engine bay is too dirty to just reinstall the engine as is....

A quick clean up is required.... e6640873e1efc01de8a4f3a844b7495c.jpg78bb322f9b921a5b84bc66c00d1c6495.jpg3681187353277587e3f11069a8fc4234.jpg020dfe07f896db4de1fd6ba03a2f3dae.jpg99dd6ee6fc08c58445e6411d4d7160ce.jpg7f05972e07533a7349e0662ba6c5c725.jpg9d6f08eeaf15b75c86326a4b3195d5b7.jpgc59b4668d0ef2d649c753cf942970e39.jpg

Saturday 12th.
Quite a productive day. Although I wanted the engine in I decided to do a bit extra to make it easier with the extra space in the bay.

This included a fuel filter swap, heat hose changeover, power steering racking replacement and luckily, identified by a fb friend to check the rear roll stopper which is covered by a rubber cover.

I managed to track down a mount from bursons. It is the same as a magna rear roll stop.

Also managed a quick playground session with the girls in between parts shopping!

So after an eventful morning with my girls chasing the part I managed to get home and replace all the listed above.

Also scored some parts on special from Kincrome as they have recently updated their parts... 02773a2e2b1da83b8f9ac1fc2c28f89f.jpgbfb431f18b2a7e399960ccac374848d0.jpg1961bb6bbee461596cc6d991e9a61856.jpg41130b6191d7b457c091a18521e0b25f.jpge6bafb15f55fe2314f563836186556d3.jpgc8952585933a41fe71d0afcebf480fc3.jpg5a044a6b506c87d86f981f27c49ee908.jpg6813aac385b847b273c8652e23dddad4.jpg51667972753d65ffc05491fe38f8e9c8.jpg

No more missing sockets!

Here are the photos of the rack replacement. Quite time consuming as the GTO has 4ws. So extra lines to plumb. Also did the boots while it was out. f4629e1f9b106769451e496bdc42b2fc.jpgc4c511034cabfcde71a9c5bc3cd7701e.jpg215107b58d07d021e20410944f5c27c9.jpgf8c7c5958100dfdbd69e3f33c568db7c.jpg8ed31a5eeb2fdf1009f3928d1effc81c.jpg6b962a3a84b5f2d9a3e3539f3d86280b.jpg72ada5cc193643b95c8890155708b7fa.jpg377cfc00a2d68332aab818b026057bf3.jpga205c8e217a94e4f3b7ff75b7aadf860.jpg
