Does anyone know of an adapter flange I can use to change the direction the turbo sits? I just bought a TD05 16g from an evo8, came with exhaust manifold, but they as everyone knows don't play ball with the evo 123. I was thinking of cutting and flipping the exhaust housing which seems the only way to go but if anyone knows where to get a flipping adapter thingy....

Flipping the later turbos around to suit the early evo's

You can buy an adapter to change the later Evo twin-scroll turbo flange to an early Evo/DSM-style turbo flange (http://www.customfab...ange/p/99293357) but like CanadianCD9A said you're going to have issues with the turbo either facing the wrong way (requiring a custom downpipe, intake piping and intercooler piping, if it doesn't already clash with the alternator and P/S pump), or basically sitting inside your radiator. The later Evo turbos are also reversed rotation compared to our factory turbos so you can't just flip the exhaust housing over as the blades of the turbine and compressor wheels are only designed to spin one way.

I'll update after I've done it but from what I can see you don't need an adapter or cut and paste you just have to drill a couple of holes and done!

Top mount it on a custom manifold
4g93t jumbuck conversion. PRANGED 18/3/12, CHECK MY MEMBER RIDES Page 11. no serious human injuries.
ON THE ENGINE STAND. g4cs 2.4l + Gt35r. PLUS: auto conversion + Awd coming.

With the money invested in this turbo, and the custom everything around it wouldnt it be smarter to have bought something that bolts on that for the same amount of money would yeild 2-3x the results? An evo 8 16g vs an evo/rvr 16g would be stuff all compared to all that custom money being put into a decent bolt on 20/25g setup?

However the turbo fits the already in place exhaust housing.

He means does the wheel spin in the housing the right way, you will care if the exhaust gas is pushing against the wrong sides of the fins and you get no boost...

But the exhaust gas comes down one end and the air intake comes through another end and if the blades are spinning one way because of intake air, surely it's not because the engine is turned in a different direction?

Wrong exhaust snail will make gasses spin the turbo wrong way so that turbo will blow the air out on inlet side instead of suck it in. Early evos have exhaust snail spining clockwise and late evos anticlockwise or the other way around but point is you can't mix them.
