So it seems I should have been collecting transmission parts before engine parts, because you just can't get them anymore. I am trying to come up with a recipe for a gearbox and transfer case that will hold together behind a 500whp 94mm stroker. I am not going to race the car, I just like ridiculous power.

 

Box I'll be using is a standard VR4 w5m33. I have a new evo 3 input and first stashed away. Other things I was thinking of was a 4 spider center diff, a billet main bearing plate to stop the box flexing and killing 4th, and a 300m output shaft. For the transfer I am going to fit a Magnus billet cover to stop it flexing.

 

Do I need all of these bits? I definitely want this stuff to hold together, but I do not want to waste money on things I only need if I'm trying for 9s at the track.

Yep. I'm working with Chris on this. He stripped the box for me last week so I know what I'm dealing with. Luckily the box was in pretty good nick. Asking everyone I can I've been told to not worry about the mid plate or output shaft and spend my money getting everything peened and polished to within an inch of its life.

PPG dogbox.  You'll shred 4th gear in a standard box with that type of torque and power at the wheels.

Also forgot to ask if anyone knows the best way around the fact that the clutch bearing retainer on the box is gouged and seeing as it is an early box it does not have a replaceable one like an evo box does?

Convert to auto is good way to get a manual not to pop

My geabox saga has been going for a while now because parts are basically impossible to get. I've ended up importing an EVO 2 RS gearbox from Malaysia, and today I took delivery of these. :D

After lots of hunting found a guy in WA who has started making hub/sliders. Just waiting on some keys and springs and can build the box. They're so shiny I don't want to put them in the box where I can't see them.
