It is VERY important that people get it right. You either have a choice of using some hi-tensile washers to give you 8mm (like head stud washers etc) but I would feel more comfortable with people using the proper VR4 aircon mounting bracket which spaces the CV at the correct height and angle from the block. MAKE SURE you get the correct bolts for it as well! The bolts have a special tip on them and have a certain tensile strength rating. The bolts are 46mm in length (not including the head).
Here's a pic for you in the meantime so you know what to look for (the "X" looking bracket in the pic on the left hand side). This aircon mount goes onto the block first, then the hanger bracket bolts onto it.
Good to see the VR4 2 litre into GSR conversion DIY is coming in handy

you said uve nearly done the conversion. ive just started mine, replacing the 1.8 to a vr4 jap spec. can you just tell me how the engine mount is modified the one on the engine side coz i dont get the whole cutting and extending thing. that would be a great help. thanks
Just buy a evo1-3 passanger block & engine mount no modding no cutting and shuttting will align the engine to the chassis like factory.

i made a custom plate for my mount just wondering if the evo 1 -3 engine mount on the cambelt side willl fit straight from the vr4 91 motor to the gsr 1992 4door sedan mounting spot? if so i must have gotten the wrong mount? and also if i did use the evo 1 - 3 mount and it did fit does it obstruct anything?

When installing an Evo 1-3 motor into a GSR, can you retain the GSR bonnet?
Not with the cam gear cover fitted..I think? my engine fitted with the original bonnet until I was shown the light and was informed I was using a vr4 engine mount instead of the evo one...which caused my engine to sit on a very shady angle:o:D

14. We used a brand new complete 2 piece EVO 3 front engine mount in this case. We found that we had to cut out the hole in the VR4 timing cover to clear the mount, and grind back a section of the E3 mount to clear VR4 waterpump (although using Evo timing cover would remedy having to cut the VR4 one). No VR4 engine mounts are required. All the mounts on the GSR box are fine.

It pays to read^^^
Also on page 1>>>>
You need an Evo 1-3 engine mount , note there are 2 pieces to it, the part that mounts on the block and the part that mounts to the car, you will need both. This will eliminate having to cut the VR4 mount and also the wrap around in the front of the engine. You will also need to grind some material off the bottom of the mount, the part that attaches to the car as it will stop the water pump pulley turning!! Also need evo plastic cover, the evo engine mount sits through the cover at a different place. Can use VR4 one, but you will need to cut it.

It wont fit properly, you will need to leave the top timing gear cover off and jack up the rear of the bonnet with washers and cut a chunk out in the under side framework of the bonnet to make room for the cam gears
Thats if he doesnt do the ABOVE though;)
