Hey all, will do an intro shortly
Just a quick question around the rvr engine
If I was to use an evo 2 loom (changing plugs/pins as requird for the rvr sensors etc) on the rvr 2g engine and switching pin 33 and 8 to suit the rvr ecu would that work?
I am happy to do an adapter for the rvr cas setup but if I installed an evo 2 cas to suit the loom is the wiring the same on the rvr ecu for that to work?
Also will an auto rvr ecu work on a manual loom?
I do not have an evo ecu and this is just to get car running
I do have the complete rvr loom as well, but haven't traced back the cas wiring yet
Another option is I wire up an adapter to a speeduino and swap anything on the rvr engine I need to suit the evo loom.
Also looked at evo 6,7,8 ecu (with an adapter) however not sure I want to outlay funds for maf, injectors etc to match if im going aftermarket later
Long term ill be going haltech or link
Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance
Also open to possibly buying an evo ecu but would loke to get what I have going if possible

You said you have evo7 ecu. That is tunable with evoscan.
Yes, auto ecu will work on manual car. I think it's just the park/neutral differences.
Yes, you could use the evo2 loom and plug in a evo2 cas, not sure about wiring differences from evo2 loom to rvr ecu.

The later model evo ECU is more than capable to do most things an aftermarket job can do, with the right tuner.
You don't need an AFM you can use speed density instead and the injectors from them are cheap as chips these days.
There are plenty of discussions on here about this, and which pins need to be swapped at the ECU to get it going.

Appreciate the guidence, didnt realise the later model ecus could do speed density. Sounds like it might be a go and ill just get larger injectors for future upgrades.
I have done tuning on quite a few cars on links and megasquirt etc so happy to tweak tunes, jsut means I need to get the tuning tool and software for the later ecu but that's not hard
Already got the wiring info for the later model swap from this thread and will make up an adapter loom

I'm using a 4g93 loom on an evo 7 ecu, I have a 4 pin 4g63cas would that be better than using the rvr system?

There was a Merlin guide pdf floating around on interwebs. Pretty much gives all the info on the late Evo ecu capabilities.

Anyone ever have clutch problems doing this swap? I used a 93 cushion button and apparently it's fouling on the gearbox

You used a clutch designed for a 1.8l engine for a 2l conversion?
Why??
You must like removing gearboxes and doing things twice??

The part numbers for cd5a and ce9a are the same. The dimensions are the same. The problem was that the mechanic used the 4g93 fly wheel and not the 4g63 flywheel that came with the engine. So to be clear for future reference, if you bore out the flywheel bolt holes and it all comes together it will be a few mm too far back.

I think he might have chopped off the locating dowel also. I think that is at a different radius.
