hey guys,

im just wondering what the difference is between the two ports on the oil filter housing.

apparently i've tapped the wrong one for my oil feed line to the turbo, but the bolt is rounded off on the other port.

also, how the hell do you get the damn housing off the car?

thanks guys!

mat :)

ok, so i've confirmed that the oil ill be receiving will be unfiltered...

would it suffice to put a filter in the oil-feed line?

where would i get that type of filter? I think earl's make them, but where do you buy them?

the earls filter is not a fine filter.. it will bypass crap..

u want to use the other port..

basically the oil going to the centre of the filter is the clean oil
the oil going to the outer of the filter is the unfiltered oil

so u can follow that port and see for sure if the oil is filtered / unfiltered..

bugger hey!

i might give pete a call and say "your problem!"

i'm ****** if i know how i'm going to get that other bolt on.

if someone could weld a lever or something to it, maybe that could loosen it a bit...

i'm running out of patience with it! :p

unbolt the entire housing dude
then u can get more tools onto it...

hard to find and auspec oil filter housing as they have the water / oil cooling unit.. jspecs use the air / oil cooler...

another option is to go jspec and run an air/oil cooler instead..

id like to do that down the track, but right now i just want the car back on the road

you have to take the crank pully off the car to unbolt the filter housing don't you? sounds like hard work to me!

getting the crank pulley off isdnt har at all mate.

just take off the accessory belts (pwr steer/alternator/air con) and then put a breaker bar on the nut and crank the engine using the force of the cranking engine to crack the bolt....or just use a rattle gun :D

DONT START THE ENGINE THOUGH!
