Look at my ride... All custom FWD (from Mitsubishi Eclipse, through to a donor V6 magna) ... Sure it is FWD, but we spent a lot of time making sure the power was able to put to the ground... Anyway, upgrade after upgrade, has seen the car put out over 230 fwkw ... There is wheel spin in 1,2, and all the way through 3rd....
With the amount of cash to get it to this stage, and in comparison to a GSR or an early Evo, I would have got a faster car as an AWD in the first place, for the same amount of cash I spent on the engine/swap and rebuild...
My advice, get an AWD and work that instead ... but that is just my 2c, and my 2c from personal experience....

Estimate at around $8000 or maybe less, depends. I get my engine done cheaper like what some would think, mates rates.
My engine guy was so glad and and happy that i no longer wish to go any further with my dash, he knows that its pointless with teh dash, he had open arms when i came and told him of my vr4 intentions, he practically laughted it off as he knows how to do up the al mighty vr4 to make serious power with little mods.
If i buy all the parts myself, i will save heaps of monet than if i got a workshop to do it, the only thing that a workshop will do is Fit and tune a computer, and just the engine rebuild, the rest ill be doing myself.
Even if i get a $4000 motec m800 computer on my dash engine its still gonna have un even air/fuel ratios, than ill have have to spend more on a custom multipoint manifold. This is just a reason why im not looking forward to do anything on my dash, cos with a vr4 its all there as factory and it makes modyfing so much easy.
IM not exactly 100% sure what it will cost, cios there is so many variables like for example >
i was quoted like $ 1600 for a Garrett GT 30/40 turbo, in another place >
$1100 for the same thing and in another place $ 950, i bet this goes the same with everything else, so many diffrent prices.
When the engine is in the shop being built, ill be getting all the bolt ons ready for it.
So stay tuned everyone, this will be very exciting, i appreciate the support so far from members in regards to what im about to do, i will no doubt inform about anything that goes on at any time.
Unless he GT3040R was second hand, you wont be getting one for $950 unless someone is losing alot of moey. That is well below the cost price for garrett.

NOTE: These are just rough prices
But factor in the things i've missed, etc, fitting, plumbing of cooler, exhaust etc, plus tuning, fluids, a clutch to hold it...... the list goes on and on.
As the saying goes, take your cost estimate, and double it and you'll pretty much be about there when its done.

Yes its major power, but ill be doing it and i will prove to all that it can be done with a cordia.
already have with the cyclon cordia!!
as for building for 8k... good luck mate...
8k plus 500000 of your own man hours....
if your paying others to do it, maybe triple the coin!
i'm doing about 80% of the work on my car myself, its still going on and has cost me heaps more than 8k!
the engine alone took a good year to build!.. with the change of parts, not happy with this, not happy with that, waiting for more parts etc etc ...
honestly, its a real pain in the ass...
u sure u want to go through with this? why not cruise at 150kw's and enjoy the thing......??

barry and runuts are building 10 second cars so they should know about the costs involved.
and nothing is ever as straight forward as you expect until u get right into it. there will always be extra costs that u didn't expect.
my advice is to do a lot of reading on dsmtuners.com and dsmtalk.com and research what they have done. they have a lot of fantastic write-ups.
parts from the USA also seem to be a lot cheaper than buying them locally so that could say u costs.
but good luck! id love to see a 10 second cordia!
