I wish, going to have to make do with a wet for now.

The plan is to hang a pump off that 64 block though

pulled down the transfer case for a look preparing for the new season, all looks ok except for a bit of bearing wear.

ill throw a new set of bearings at it and it will be good to go, the plan is to also build up a spare for ease of swapping over.

This head will be cut to bits to get the info for the nice virginal head I have that will go on the 64 block

George, you might want to look at the xfer case plates and braces that are now available from places like magnus and frontline fabrications.

They basically reduce the xfer from moving which I think is a great idea. Cheap investment to one of the many weaknesses in our drive trains.

A transfer case rebuild is on the cards for me too George, I'll go in and get one of these if you do, we could split postage.

I'm liking that idea Baz.  Might even be able to get a bit of a price discount if we buy a few.

I have been talking to barry about this, do you think they do flex if you aren't launching? which I don't.

how much can cast iron flex? I mean if it flexes it will break yeah?

I have looked at the magnus one but they want the same amount for postage as the actual part.

I am about to build a spare transfer so maybe I could be convinced to try one if we all go in together and then I can test them back to back and we can find out for sure if they actually do any thing?

Seen a few transfer cases in NZ blow up mid track so it does happen not just on launch. I would opt for the frontline fab "brace" much stronger design than the Magnus one as it's only the cover.

Attached pic of one where there was a shaft failure and the brace did well IMO

dare I say it but a output shaft failure like that will happen with or without a brace.

the main thing a brace would help with (if it does) is bearing and gear wear

You are spot on and it is only a pic to show a breakage with the brace on.. As you see many other totally blown apart.. but the brace helps stop distortion of the case and that is all in one unlike the magnum billet cover.. The brace is one whole part "cover and brace" kill two birds one stone.

That is out of a 160+ mph auto stock transfer case

that frontline one looks good but my exhaust is already having clearance issues next to the transfer case. that's the only downside....

I thought they were only for the auto transfer case. That's what I was told as I'm waiting on a diff cover and valve cover from frontline
