I think the same as my FTO.. The factory mirrors don't to anything special on startup or shutdown, but just handy to fold in the mirrors at the touch of a button.

Some of the parking in Japan is pretty limited, and compacted.

Some of the guys on the FTO forum, have wired up the folding of the mirrors to their car alarm though..

Yeah on the stock lancer / GSR power mirrors, only the glass moves !! The whole mirror can be manually folded in by hand though.

On the EVO mirrors the glass moves as per the GSR ones, but you can also press a button on the mirror switch and the whole mirror will fold in electronically !!

It's a rocker type switch! Press one side, mirrors fold in.. Press the other, mirrors fold out.

The ignition switch has to be on for it to work..

In answer to your question Jack....they do nothing without pressing the in / out switch.
The functions you mention are possible on the later models evos but, They work from certain numbers of presses on the key fob.

Do what Scott did and wire up the alarm to your mirror fold in and out switch.

There is a cool video somewhere.

I wonder if there is a way to increase the tension or firmness of the mirror mechanism. It's the only thing that vibrates on my Galant. Should be similar mechanisms.

Spiderwebs baz. Mine is rocksolid. Feed the mirror live flies and watch the vibrations reduce.

I was looking at a set of those but rather than the black I would get the normal backing and use my orange corners. Will still look A1 but!

Yeah was tossing up if I went orange..

But think the black will actually look better on the blue. Will put in a chrome indicator bulb as well.. So it looks a little better too.

The lights were also upgraded to HID.. An unexpected suprise..

Not even any made i dont think. I even tried to get the usa colt ones and was going to reverse the low beam shutters to make them dip left instead on right.
