Well, the Commonwhore is staying the way it is, the GSX-R1000 is not getting upgraded for at least another year, and the Sonata is being stripped...

As you all know, I have been looking for an AWD project, and I am happy to report that I purchased her... I pick her up on Saturday ... Can't wait ...

Then it is off to the mechanics to be stripped, and I will prolly painting the engine bay while it has nothing in it... Will have to see how it goes ...

Here are some pics that I took of the car at is storage yard. The car is in a bit of a mess at the moment, as it was a stolen & recovered car. There is a little bit of body damage, and the front control arm needs to be replaced. The blue is a little darker in person, but the flash and the lighting were not the best last night. It looks like the Holden Turismo Blue Mica ...

I am not sure if I am going to keep it this colour or go for the Mazda 6 Red Mica .. Not sure of it's name ... Or I could just paint it the same colour as the Sonata ... I really love that colour,

Thanks mate...

I gotta admit, the colour is kind of growing on me ... but not really a big fan... I think it makes the car look like a hotwheels toy car... I don't mind the colour on a coupe (eg the Monaro), but I think the lancer is a little to big for such a "different" colour...

Anyway, the engine going into it, is the one out of my Sonata.

It is a 4G63T, that I got from a US Eclipse. Not sure if it is more like the Evo or the VR4... I think it is closer to the Evo, as the crank from a VR4 did not fit it, and I had to use an Evo VII one. It has currently put out 238wk @ the wheels in the Sonata, and that was on 20psi... With the AWD system, I should be able to put more power down, so the next dyno will be interesting....

I really can't wait to see how this thing turns out ....

You'll make a bit of money selling off the crap that's in the engine bay now (err.. the 4g93 :D )

PLEASE GET RID OF THE TURBO BADGE ON THE BACK. Is it a fully sik vl?

And red ! RED GOES FASTER! (The sonata is a sexy colour too)

Ok, i'm done.

Nice toy.
The 4G63 motor code is street shorthand for dominance. It's automotive Darwinism.

Hehehe ... I was going to rip off the VL badge last night... I saw it and my first thought was ... "Tosser" ... But hey, each to his own ... Maybe I should list it on ebay ... I will say it adds 5hp to any car ....

Yeah, red goes faster was my thought also ... But I really do love the Blue Mica on the Sonata... The only thing I hate is you need a white undercoat for that kind of blue, which means any scratch quickly shines through ... But the re-spray is a long way off ... I may just spray the engine bay black while I decide on what colour to do the rest of the car...

The deal I struck when purchasing the car, was leaving the 4g93 out of it... I thought that I didn't need it, so I may as well leave it, and just get any panels and stuff that I need to fix the car to substitute...

Not sure when it is all going to start... I have to make sure the engine bay is clean on the GSR, then paint it, and get the Sonata stripped... It may start next week ... Will see how it goes...

Not sure what is going to become of the Sonata... I will try to see if the coil overs are going to fit the GSR ... The wheels are the same stud pattern so they will go straight on ... And I guess I will just see what parts will fit where... Then the Sonata will either retire to a friends property until I know what I am going to do with her or be sold as a rolling shell ...

have u thought about turning the sonata back to stock and selling it that way? you might get more for it that way. or put a stock vr4 motor in it and sell it like that?

Honestly, the retail value of a stock sonata is not too good. I would have to replace box, engine and ECU .. Put in stock suspension if the coil overs fit the lancer, sell it with a few holes in the roof lining (where the drop down tv screen is) ... It is probably not going to be worth the hassle.. I don't have access to all the equipment, so still have to get my mechanic to help me out, so yeah, the cost just won't be worth it ...

I would be better off just off loading it to a wrecker, or scrap metal .... Will break my heart to do it though... I offered it to my brother (as he now has 2 kids and has out grown his Pulsar hatch), but he says he could not afford it ... I tried to explain that all he would need do is put in the engine, but he is still not keen ... That is why I may just keep it... I could hold on to it, and when he can save up cash, just give it to him...

Ohh ... Yes please ... I saw one of the mazda's parked next to me today and I love that paint ... I think I would add more of the mica though so it stands out a little more...

That looks good for a recovered car, a bit of work and she'll be flying! Are you going to repaint it though, I'd concur that the colour makes it look like a Matchbox car.

Hmm ... The RX8 blue is one I never thought of .. I may have to take a closer look ... Is it similar to the WRX blue ... :?: ... If so, I am going to say no, but if different, it could be an option ...

Grrrr.... Too many choices.... lol ....

nothing like the WRX blue. Think of the same colour depth as the Velocity red, only Blue 8)

in fact, most of the Mazda colours are awesome. They also have a nice dark pearl silver, metallic black, even their pearl white looks hot. And the blackcurrant too.......................

I think I know the blue you mean now ... It is pretty hot ... I think I want to stay away from the dark colours... My Sonata is a biatch to keep clean, and the smalles scratch shows up on it ...

Nice one mate, shame they stole the GSR boot lid. I hope they didn't steal the ABS as well. I like the old sticker over the chasssis number trick.
Looks good anyway. A few bits missing, but at least you get the EVO bonnet you will need that (now you can put the upper timing cover back on your engine).
I want you to consider selling me the Eclipse gearbox.
Let me know if you need a Evo front bar and guards (we just stripped a front cut this week and we have all the bits that you need to turn this thing into an EVO replica)

If you have some spare time come to the workshop and have a look at some of the GSR's and EVO's that we have here and we can show you what you need to do to make an exact EVO copy.

ps let me know about that Eclipse gearbox.

1 Eclipse box coming your way ...

I have bid on the Evo 3 kit on ebay ...

http://cgi.ebay.com....RK:MEBI:IT&rd=1

I have set my final price pretty high, so I am going to assume that I have won it ..

I have the rear spoiler, and rear bar... So yeah, I just need the front bar and skirts... How much would I bee looking at... :?:

I guess if I win the auction I could always re-sell the stuff I don't want .. But I am also interested in the recaro seats out of the Evo ...

OK ...

Car is in a bit more of a mess then I thought ... so far...

So it looks like I am going to need...

roof lining
Front drivers door
front driver gaurd
steering wheel
maybe some interior bits here and there
Some driveline stuff

And for some reason, the rear passenger door does not seem to open.. It sounds like the handle (inside or out) is not working the door latch to release..

There is a little dent in the roof, and the brakckets that held on the front guard look a little mangled... Anyway, we will see how it goes...

I was thinking of these for the interior...

And also, a rear LSD ... I have been quoted $1,500 for an Evo 2 one which had low K's .. Not sure if that is good or not .. .
